I wish I wasn't poor.

I wish I wasn't either, so help me out and buy a DVD :)

LOL, I'll help you out=) I'll definitely order one. I've always been curious about "real" Sanda technique anyway. I have a question tho. Being that Sanda is a hybrid style, where are most of your techniques derived from? Is it pretty much just general kickboxing and wrestling? Muay thai? kung fu?

the DVD actually has a lot of "side commentary" showing where stuff comes from, ie while clinching and throwing, which can look a lot like MT or wrestling, I often mention or demonstrate the original Chinese technique that we get it from, ie I talk a lot about how at the center, much is the same, but sadly how much of the Chinese fighting technique has been lost in all the bullshit...

san da = amatuer sanshou I believe

San Da = Punching, Kicking, Knees (Much like K-1 style of Kickboxing) with the addition of throwing and takedowns!

San Da is actually a more professional version of San Shou, as San Shou does not allow the use of knees.

San Da - training method developed by Chinese military to develop functional fighting skills in a reasonable time and to test them, includes a format for competive fighting, which has now both amateur and pro divisions

Amateur - punches, kicks, knees, throws, takedowns

Pro- all of the above plus elbows and standing submissions
