Sarah Kaufman: Ronda Rousey Hasn't Fought Anyone

Former Strikeforce women’s 135 pound champion Sarah Kaufman talks with Full Contact Fighter correspondent Scott Corl about the recent, controversial statements made by Strikeforce women’s champ Miesha Tate and unbeaten Ronda Rousey about the correlation between a female fighter’s looks and her marketability.

Last week, Tate and Rousey both claimed that female fighters who are attractive are more marketable than those who are not attractive, despite their level of talent. Kaufman also discusses her stance on Rousey’s challenge to her and the caliber of opponents Rousey has faced thus far.

Kaufman talks about a looming rematch with Tate, whom Kaufman defeated by way of unanimous decision on May 15, 2009; the overall depth of the women’s field and the UFC’s unwillingness to commit to building a women’s division, thus far.

She's right on all fronts

I agree with Sarah trying to avoid Ronda...a fight with Ronda means 1 of her arms will get damaged and she needs to recover and lose training/competition time.

So from a business point of view, it makes sense for all these girls to try and duck Ronda as long as possible. It also makes sense to avoid as long as possible the beating where you lose in < 1 minute.

I can't watch any interview with that guy. Looks like one of those talking dolls where their mouth just moves....can't think of what they're called.

Ronda by armbar.

Maybe, maybe not but what I can guarantee is that when the time comes to fight Ronda, Kaufman won't instead cut to 125 and start a phony beef with Rosi Sexton and then demand an immediate title shot while claiming she is only doing it to hype a fight with Ronda and of course wants only to do what's best for women's MMA. Of course you won't have the MMA media and legions of delusional fanboys believing every word that horsesh*it.

"she is a sour lady. they all are"

How does that make Cyborg a better person? Rhonda is trying to hype a potential fight and get people talking and its obviously working. It doesnt make her a bad person for it you dipshit Phone Post

My God this 58miles embittered trolling! lol

Kaufman makes good points re: the legitimacy of the sport and her deserving her title shot with Tate rather than taking a backseat and either having to fight Rousey first or watching her(Rousey) jump in front of her to fight Tate.

But... Kaufman and Tate(on the other interview thread) need to realize the hole they're digging for themselves in mentioning Rousey's name in these interviews. It's not exactly talking shit, but it's definitely going to anger Rousey and motivate her to hurt them(Kaufman/Tate). Speaking up for yourself is one thing. Suffering a career-ending hinge joint injury is another thing entirely, and I'm sure neither Kaufman/Tate truly appreciate (yet) the danger they're in with Rousey re: the disparity in skill/athleticism between them(virtual amateurs) and Rousey(a legit world class athlete who's succeeded at the highest level in a sport that is FAR larger, older, deeper, and more prestigious than women's bjj/mma combined).

People keep talking about other fighters ducking Ronda. Why isn't Ronda calling out Cyborg? Is Ronda afraid to fight a striker?

I think Ronda is calling out Tate because she is a better style matchup for her compared to Cyborg. For her, it would be the easier title to win.

LOL

If there is one thing you know is going to happen in every thread about Ronda Rousey, it is 58miles showing up and spewing bile. Every damn time. You can set your watch by that guy.
