Saudi Arabia at it again......

How the fuck can it be defamation if it's true?  Ass backward country should be turned into a fucking parking lot already.

Saudi woman could face jail time for posting video of cheating husband

A Saudi woman could face defamation charges and up to one year in jail for posting a video of her husband groping his housemaid, Emirates 24/7 reports.

The wife caught her husband flirting with the maid in their kitchen in the Gulf kingdom and secretly filmed the incident with her cell phone. She then posted the video on social media with the caption: “the minimum punishment for this husband is to scandalise him,” Emirates 24/7 adds. It did not name the wife.

The video quickly went viral on social media networks, with those who supported the woman saying she had a right to exact revenge on her cheating husband and to prevent similar cases in her future. Some Twitter users started using the hashtag #Saudiwomancatcheshusbandcheating to express their support.

“I salute you warmly for your valiant courage,” posted a blogger Al Yamama, Gulf News Saudi Arabia reports. “You did the best thing because there was an urgent need for revenge and your revenge is the best,” she wrote.

But others condemned the woman, saying she should have handled the matter privately. One blogger argued the wife’s approach was all wrong, Gulf News Saudi Arabia adds.

“She did not know how to handle the situation,” Al Mezzen wrote. “What she did in fact was to expose her private life and problems for everyone to see. The situation is compounded if they have children because there will be dire consequences. She has to live with the consequences of what she did,” he said.

And according to Saudi lawyer Majid Qaroob, if the woman avoids jail time, she could still face severe fines under the law on information technology crimes, Gulf News Saudi Arabia reports.

“This law includes stiff punishment for anyone using mobile phones with camera or other equipment to photograph others and defame them,” he told the Syrian Arab News Agency, Gulf News Saudi Arabia adds.

You could face legal action in most western states for that...

A fair punishment would be to chop off her head Phone Post 3.0

Not really, no.   Slander and libel require the negative information to be false.

I was thinking she was getting off easy.

Why didn't he just go to AshleyMahdi-saud.com or camelsonly.com?

It may be so, but filming someone in a private residence and then releasing the footage without their consent, with a clearly harmful purpose is a big no no.
It doesn't matter if you both live there.

And i would imagine the maid would object aswell.

That may be a violation of some kind of wiretapping law but it's not defamation.

And even that is questionable.  You see home security cam footage released all the time and I've yet to see a criminal successfully sue a homeowner for releasing video of them breaking into the house or whatever they're doing.

I didn't specify the charge.

As for the cctv, he wasn't breaking the law. He has a right to privacy in his own home, opposed to a burglar. And often those videos are released for the purpose of cathing the criminal, not just for the laughs

So true!

Things like this really make you understand why feminists and other progressives in the US constantly protest the muslim religious right.

Are you certain he didn't break the law? How familiar are you with the Saudi legal system? Phone Post 3.0

Adultery is legal in SA?

I don't think they would consider that adultery there since its a man groping a woman of a lower class. And even if they do, two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm not defending anyone here, i'm just saying that with all the shit going on there, this is not newsworthy, especially since its just lawyer not connected to the case saying she COULD face charges.

I just saw this in a news website here in Finland. Apparently the have a law especially againts filming someone then shaming them with the film.

Sadly they also protest sane white men for no reason also Phone Post 3.0

Yeah i think she should face charges. I hate shit like this.

USA and most western countries are fucked up that they allow people to basically post whatever they want online. Look at a website like thedirty.com they put 14-15 year old girls up there telling the world they got herpes and they're whores and 90% of the time it probably isn't even true just a jealous schoolmate and the site is allowed to be up.

You shouldn't be able to just publicly ruin someones life for some petty shit.

That's a catchy hashtag Phone Post 3.0
