NEWARK, N.J. - Welterweight Thiago (Pitbull) Alves has had to drop off the UFC 111 mixed martial arts card because of a medical issue.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the Florida-based Brazilian had a problem show up in a pre-fight CT scan.
Alves was due to meet Jon Fitch on Saturday in one of the marquee fights on the main card at the Prudential Center, with the winner emerging as a top welterweight contender.

Fuck OFF!!!!! I was really looking forward to the Ellenberger Saunders fight. What a giant cluster fuck. I had some bets on Ellenberger too, what a dumb move.
They could have at least waited until Alves gets fully checked out, it could have just been nothing and he could have fought Fitch at UFC 112. Instead they decide to ruin another fight on the card. I mean the Fitch Saunders fight means nothing. The Ellenberger Saunders fight meant something. What a shame.
Would have preferred to see Fitch/Ellenberger, but they probably chose Saunders because he is a similar style to Alves.
What happens to Ellenberger now? I like the idea of Ellenberger/Lytle but I dunno what card they'd squeeze it in on.

Didn't he just miss weight in one of his last outings? I honestly don't remember; might have two guys mixed up. I thought I had heard him talking about moving up to 185, but I'm probably wrong.

Bullshit. Ellenberger has 50x the punching power that Fitch has and IMO Ben ducked out of fighting an extremely hard hitter and into a matchup where his worst prospect is losing a decision.
If Swick can finish Saunders, Fitch can finish Saunders.
