So just heard on the Fighter and the Kid Podcast that Brendan Schaub is looking to compete at the IBJJF worlds in order to help with ring rust as he waits for his next fight. Plus he posted him training with checkmat today on his instagram

curious about everyone's thoughts, More Schaubing? #keepitplayful? or does he come out and do respectable?
Brown Master 1 Ultra-Heavy, yeah he should run train

No masters division at Worlds.
Also, the rules in IBJJF tournaments mean it should be pretty hard for him to repeat his Metamoris performance. You get penalized for disengaging and matches that end in a tie are decided by referee's decision. So if he runs away the whole match it's not likely to go great for him.

Only for white belts. The masters/seniors worlds is in October or November
is he a blackbelt?
edit - just saw he's a brown belt
If he's really doing Masters then that's shitty. He's an athlete that's competed professionally in two separate sports, and is still active in one of them. Hell, I sit behind a desk for 50 hours a week and train 3-4 times per week and still do the adult division instead of Masters.

Schaub is much bigger than I realized.

LOL at people on this forum NOT knowing Masters Worlds is separate, good lord.
And he will do well as he is a good athlete and has legit skill. No clue if he can win his division but he won't be a pushover. And smart choice training w Checkmat for this one.
His athleticism will for him well, but the division is improving. That's my division, as in what I'm competing in. He's training mma a lot for fights and most everybody else is in the gi 6 days a week. I would never try to go athlete v athlete against him, but I'd play deep half double lapel sweeps, waiter sweeps, and foot locks. He doesn't have the time to learn to deal with specialized positions.
Will do well for him....
Can't imagine he has much of a guard, props to him for taking on the challenge, i'm curious to see what kind of a gi game he has at all. I would imagine it's a lot of explosive moves to get to top control.
He'll probably make a strong run at the title.
i'll bet anything he doesn't win. has a decent shot to medal though
I hope he gets smoked.
