This is to counter the ridiculous thread bashing the best announcer in the business. If you agree that Schnake is the best announcer out there, or if you at least enjoy his "performances", then post here. I think you'll quickly find he has many, many more who think he is great than otherwise.

Let me say this Big Papa Schnake is by far the best ring announcer in this sport. He is also one of the best people in this sport. As far as his commentary on the IFC tournament. That was the very first time that he had ever done commentary for any event. I dare say most of us wouldn't have done any better our first time out. The problem with his commentary is the same thing that makes him so good for the sport. His passion for the sport! He gets a little to excited at times and is a very animated person. I don't think we should persecute him for that. But have no doubt he is the Best ring announcer in this sport.
Schnake is good at what he does, and great for MMA.

All I know is that his IFC tourney commentating was absolutely the worst thing I've ever heard in the sport. I almost had to turn the sound off because it was so horrifically grating.
Maybe he's improved a thousandfold since then.
i know what you mean lawdymama. some announcers put on a "fake" voice. one thing i like about schnake is that he uses his real voice. that is one guy that really doesn't need to use the mic, lol.
I saw him at some fights where both he and I were spectators, and the guy had a dress on. I am not joking.

Is he the guy who used to announce for Tuesday night fights at Stars and Stripes in Davenport?...Iowa guys help me out. If its the same guy he seemed pretty cool, I would usually get there early and he would always come over and chat with me a bit.
Papa is the man, I like him and I think he is good for the sport. He always takes time to talk to me in the crowd between fights and I have even seen him explain a ref's desicion to clueless specators. The best is when he calls out drunk red necks in the crowd and embarrasses them for being obnoxious loud mouths (imagine the irony, lol). The hair, the silver sparkle suit and the lung power, I love it.
He is excellent for what he does, he is just an all around great guy,and for those that are down playing.... well we no what Schnake would say to that.....

I don't find that hard to beleveat all! I don't think that I have heard anyone better as far as a Ring Announcer!
