I have been causually looking for a jiu jitsu school or submission wrestling school in or around Toronto for the past few years, and I have finally decided to go head first and join. I know about Empire in Barrie and Robert Drysdale had an affiliate school (but unsure if its closed.) Claude Patricks school always comes up but I was just curious where any UG'ers train. Its a little far but I know 10th planet has a school around toronto too. That would be my first choice, I'm fascinated with the 10th planet system.
I have no experience with them but Toronto BJJ is always a school/name that comes up.
Another hidden gem is Lin's Martial Arts (about 25 mins north of Toronto). They have some skilled guys there; technical and non-spazzy. The membership price is a little on the higher end though.

Thanks for the help.
Hey bro - you should definately come try some classes at Toronto BJJ. I've trained there for 4.5 yrs now. It's a big school with awesome instruction, a variety of world class athletes, enthusiasts, hobbyists, etc.
We have a great kickboxing program under Henri hooft and BJJ under Jorge Britto (Saulo Riberio / royler gracie BB).
FearOdinsWrath - How are the no gi classes at toronto bjj? I know most schools offer limited no gi options. No gi or submission wrestling is where it's at lol
Most proper BJJ schools will focus on gi as that's what proper BJJ is. If you want to do no-gi only there's Toronto No Gi: www.torontonogi.com or there's a 10th Planet affiliate out in Peterborough I believe. If you're serious about learning BJJ though, then I would suggest a BJJ school. Warriors up in Newmarket is a great choice and in your area www.warriormma.ca
Why keep the gi classes the main stay at schools? I get that it's tradition and a way to show respect to the art itself, but no gi is the future. Who can honestly say that they like watching gi more then no gi

You're welcome to come check us out at Submission Arts Academy in Barrie (formerly the Drysdale affiliate you were talking about). We just opened in a new location at 112 Commerce Park Dr., near the movie theater in the Barrie's South end. We have 1200 sqft of Zebra mat space, large lounge/viewing area, as well as men and women's change rooms/showers. We offer day and evening classes both gi and nogi.

Are you going to a school to watch, or to train and learn? If you think the gi is only about "tradition" you obviously still have much to learn grasshopper.
