Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that the Sci Fi Channel will be launching a 2-hour anime block on Monday nights starting on June 11. The content will be provided by Starz Media's Manga Entertainment imprint, although no titles were available at press time. The block will air from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, putting it in direct competition with Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.

On June 11, 2007 they will be airing Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society at 11pm.

On June 18 and 25, the schedule will be as follows:

11:00pm - Noein

11:30pm - Tokko

12:00am - Macross Plus

All times are EST and schedule is subject to change.

The Wandering Kid Hour I hope (Uro Suki Doji)

Good, CN hasn't had anything particularly good in that area for a while.

Never understood why Sci-Fi stopped showing anime as it got more popular.

so in five years they might get good anime.

?!?!

Solid State Society is scheduled for a region 1 DVD release in July.

Both Noein and Tokko have gotten good reviews, and although licensed for distribution in the US, neither series had been completely released for North America.

lol, If it's anything like the Canadian specialty channel anime blocks back in the 90's, you might as well call it the Macross Plus hour.

Does anyone remember back in the 90's Scifi used to show an anime movie every saturday. Man that was awesome.

LOL

Good point. At the very least, things will be dubbed --- which will turn off some hard-core fans for whom dubbing = crap. It remains to be seen how much will be edited for content.
