Scientists saying CTE unlikely to be epidemic

Video version.

The Lancet one of the oldest and most respected medical journals in the world posted a paper signed by 60 neurology experts singling out the NYT for misrepresentative headlines and  calling for "principle of first do no harm".

DEFINE_ME

Cliffs;

CTE is a disease in the earliest stages of being understood.

So far a cluster of extremely well self promoted scientists have dominated the headlines (which are then dramatised) whilst the majority of other scientists who have questioned if CTE is even a real disease have flown under the radar.

Many Scientists have encountered people who have been self diagnosing with CTE. Some people have even committed suicide because they thought they had CTE when they in fact had a treatable condition.

I posted this in the OG first but I thought I’d post it here as well because there are more people who train who seem to look at this part of the forum.

For those of you who stick to the media narrative after 60 experts have signed saying it’s misrepresentative I have to question how many experts would you need to see to be convinced otherwise?

Steroid abuse and CTE is just a myth, I mean look at Mark Coleman, that guy is totally fine, rofl.

I don't see how steroids and CTE are related.

As far as CTE goes one scientist got a peer reviewed paper published arguing that it doesn’t exist;

Many other scientists are saying it’s prevalence is being overstated by the media.

CTE is not the only thing that can happen to the brain.

youre the type of person who would believe water isnt wet if a “scientist” said so, next level dumb

If you watch the documentary Facing Ali (about Ali's opponents in the ring) they nearly all speak with slurred speech.

So you don’t believe in science?

I guess it’s dumb to listen to the best Neuroscientists in the world. Funny interpretation of the word “dumb”.

GSP24 - Coker is smarter than Reed Harris. That's why Reed is still with Zuffa and Coker isn't. Phone Post 3.0
I'd have to say the opposite Phone Post 3.0
Coker is capable of running the UFC.

Would you say Harris is just as capable? Phone Post 3.0

Given the outcome of strikeforce I wouldn’t necessarily say that Coker is capable. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the shit out of many strikeforce shows as I did with affliction but both didn’t last. I do think those Coker is a great fit for bellator though. He’s well respected and has of course great contracts. I think he’ll of learned much from both his time in strikeforce and his time with Zuffa. Interested to see if he can make them solvable long term. Phone Post 3.0
VU for the respectful discussion. Phone Post 3.0
