Scissor sweep - knee drops or not?

Umm, t?

"Instead of holding your opponent's HEAD from the scissor guard/sweep position, does anyone here like to hold the TRICEP instead, i.e. the tricep on the same side as your "higher" leg is? "

Yes, I do that a lot - especially in no-gi.  I'll often seek an underhook and slide down to hold the tricep early on.  Sometimes I'll try to hold over the top of their arm using my forearm to "pin" his arm against my outer thigh.  If he tries to reach for the under the leg pass, I get the head control.  If he tries to lean away to free his arm, he off-balances himself right into my scissor sweep.  If he pulls back and away, then there is room to either go to knees (stand up) or use the space he gives to readjust your hips and use the push sweep with your lower leg to break his posture down.

Holding the tricep instead of the head also helps to keep you out of footlocks.
