Scott Jorgensen's corner should be ashamed

Watching their one legged fighter taking a beating like that. Fucking terrible. It was, painfully, obvious Jorgensen's leg was severely injured. Watching his foot flop as he tried to put weight on it was cringe worthy.

I don't even know who cornered him last but i hope their proud of themselves.

i hear yeah, he was intelligent defending himself, that's why the ref was letting it go, also thought Scott was giving the ref the Okay.

Scott didn't want it stopped... He has the right to keep going if he wants doesn't he? Phone Post 3.0

Sometimes guys are to tough for their own good. A corner's number one job is to protect their fighter. Mark Hunt was game to keep going against Stipe but his corner should have stopped that one too. Phone Post 3.0

Said the same when everyone was blaming the ref. For something like that the corner is responsible, not the ref. And the corner was terrible Phone Post 3.0

A corner doesn't have the power to stop a fight.

Scott insisted he was carrying on despite the injury. Phone Post 3.0

I told the ref and my corners not to stop it between rds. I have full faith in my corners or they wouldn't be here with me.

Yes, only the ref can waive off the fight. However, just like when the doctor tells the ref that a fighter can't see out of an eye and he stops the fight, what do you think the ref does when the corner tells him to stop the fight? Phone Post 3.0

The Ref asks the fighter if he wants to continue.

Fighter says yes.

Fight continues. Phone Post 3.0

Yeah a corner has all power to stop a fight, that's a pretty given thing in combat sports Phone Post 3.0

Wrong, it's considered a 'foul' but not strictly a DQ. Phone Post 3.0

Ref and corner let him down

Slap yourself.

Your logic is that TKO victories shouldn't exist? most fighters don't want fights stopped when they lose. The point of having a coach/corner and a good ref is to protect fighters, it has NOTHING to do with what fighters what.

Only the ref or the doctor can call the official halt of a fight. So if the corner climbs in the octagon or throws the towel etc it wouldn't technically be the corner that stopped the fight it would be the ref that calls the fight because of the corners actions (foul). Which, in the spirit of the thread means that getting the fight stopped was within the control of the corner. Phone Post 3.0

You're being silly now.

I'm not defending the rules just trying to clarify them.

They allow the towel throwing in Boxing but not MMA, that's a fact.

In MMA, if my memory serves me correctly, the following protocol is in place:

Corner informs an inspector. If inspector agrees...

Both inspector and corner man go to top of steps to grab attention of Ref.

Ref understands what this implies and will consider bringing fight to a halt.

All fighters and corners are briefed on this prior to the fight.

^ I might have some of the detail missing but that's my main understanding. Phone Post 3.0
