I have a group of boys that do aikido. Aikido doesn't have contests, and my boys want to compete against others. I think that they might enjoy entering judo tournaments.
Can anybody give recommendations on competitions in or near VA Beach or Norfolk, VA.
try to link to Shufu through the link at www.usjf.com click on Yudanshakai. Should have tournaments listed there. You can also try to link through the USJI state organizations for Virginia at www.usjudo.org and see if they have any info.
The USJI site also has some events posted on their site. Might want to check that out.

They might want to get some judo training before they enter a Judo competition. Throwing people with wrist locks is not approved of at Judo shiai !

Thanks, I've gotten Best Judo and a few other Judo books, and we've been doing techniques from those books along with the aikido.
I'm going to web sites checking out the competition rules.
Actually the principals are pretty similar in my opinion.
