Seen "Extreme Fighting"..?

I was at Best-Buy yesterday and picked up a couple of DVD's for the weekend. The first I got was an older event called "Extreme Fighting"...It had a 28 year old Mario Sperry and Igor Zenoviev..As well as Gary Myers and a couple other noticable fighters...Like Mr.T!!! lol! I watched one fight of it last night before I passed out and saw they were calling Vitor Belfort "Victor Gracie"...Hopefuly there is another Gracie known as "Victor" that I'm unaware of otherwise it was great to see a young 17 or 18 year old Vitor getting mad at Carlson Gracie Jr. when he fought John Lewis and almost did nothing. lol. It was however, the first time I got to see John in a fight where he wasn't on a Jens highlight reel. John is the man!

Has anyone seen it..? is it any good..? I thought it was worth the $8 just to see Mario, Igor and Lewis in action back in the day.

The other I picked up was the "UnderGround Extreme" KOTC package..I have the other "Underground" set so I thought I'd pick this one up as well. Anyway, has anyone seen this one..? Any good fights on there..?

I think MMA is like Football in the way that college ball is sometimes better then Pro ball because they're still hungry to get to the big show. I love scouting talent on the smaller shows while the "business" still hasn't taken a hold of great fighters!

I thought it was worth the $8 just to laugh my ass off at Manny Reyes Jr...... Was I right..?

Is it worth it..?

Thanks in advance.

TTT

Dean Lister and Jeremy Horn is a good one. There are a few good ones on the KOTC. You might have to sift through some crap, but they are there.

KOTC Underground is crap because of the production quality as far the fights filming angles and the fighters (I know they're just starting out) don't seem trained that well to be fighting yet. In otherwords, BJJ white/blue belts or wrestlers with limited striking or none at all. But its priced right. It's like a dollar an event.

I'm old school so the the Extreme Fighting dvd's are great for nostalgia vaule and those fights were great for their time. Now they just need to release EF3 and 4. If your all into TUF and current MMA fight rules this dvd may not be for you.

Dark- Yeah man, I noticed a couple of AWFUL camera angle's and views...ALmost to the point where I was annoyed.

Also- Mario DID tap. Period. I don't know how that could be debated at all. It was pretty clear.

TTT!

Any fights to look out for..? Besides the Horn/Lister fight..?

The show has at least some interesting history to it. The untouchable Mr. 250-O Sperry gets schooled by Zenoviev. This where Zenoviev gets the Houdini nick-name from that long-time fight commentator (name slips my mind at the point). There was a possibility, though I could be wrong here, of two Gracie matching-up against other. As Ralph, Lewis, Murakawa, and Carlson Jr. were in the lightweight tournament. Of course Lewis and Carlson Jr. fought to a draw. Ralph got title. Lewis vs. Carlson Jr. was kind of lack-luster, with the way Lewis just held onto the cage for most of the fight. One of only two mma fights of Carlson Jr. ever did, both ending in a draw. Show also had Tom Glanville, who went on to fight on some Vegas K-1 shows, and who passed away last year.

Vaguely remember the fights from the other show. Carlos Newton's first mma fight ever against Jean Riviere. Ralph Gracie's first go-around with Steve Nelson.

Long-time since I have seen any of the fights from the other two shows they did. Goes vs. Macias. Murakami tkoing Bart Vale. Maurice Smith vs. Conan Silveira 1. Humes submitting Miletich. And Kenny Monday's only mma ever winning the Welterweight title by tkoing John Lewis.

They are definetly worth getting.  Extreme fighting eems like a piece of MMA history.  It is intresting to see the fighters avoid the cops leading up to EF2.

They do need to release part three and four as they are pretty good cards.  And Hume didn't submit Militich, he broke his nose and the fight was stopped.

Belfort used to go by Gracie early in his career.

I would like to see #4 released. Gary Myers

EFC was an awesome organization. Waaaaaaaaay ahead of its time. EFC 3 and 4 are two of the greatest shows of the 1990's.

No, Sperry placed his hand on the mat. The fight was called due to the cut. I wouldn't say that Zinoviev "schooled" Ze Mario but he won fair & square.

John "and he mounts him like a little PONY!" Peretti is hilarious on commentary but he was a good matchmaker.

TH

yeah and then get the one where conan got kicked in the head but mau smith

seen em all except mo vs kazunari

"Any fights to look out for..? Besides the Horn/Lister fight..?"

These are just some names that I recognize...

Brian Foster vs Joey Villasenor

Urijah Faber vs Ronnie Boukai

Diego Sanchez vs Cruz Chacon

Robbie Lawler vs Jeremy Brown

Charles Bennett vs Gabe Rivas

Brendan Seguin vs Joe Doerksen

It's strange that they released EFC 1 and 2 a second time on dvd with new art work and then they released it on a two disc set a third time but never released EFC 3 on dvd (only VHS)  or even released EFC 4 at all

Lst night I saw Urijah Faber and he looked like crap. I wasn't impressed at all with his skills...It was probably early in his career though as I've heard ALOT about him as of late.

Also, I went back and watched it again and they keep calling "Vitor Belfort"- Victor Gracie...SOunds like a propaganda type thing to me, lol.

Also, the KOTC Underground Extreme is pretty good. The production quality blows but I could care less about that...I like the fights.

and they always fight harder to get to the big show then when they actualy make it.

I got to see the fames: MATT HORNING vs DAN SWIFT fight! hahaha!!

Swift, you still owe me my title shot damnit!!! I'm comin to get it too!

lol. TTT!

"Also, I went back and watched it again and they keep calling "Vitor Belfort"- Victor Gracie...SOunds like a propaganda type thing to me, lol."

He went by Victor Gracie for a while. They talked about it during his early UFC fights, too.
