Add your selection of person or persons to reprsent this(American) federation if it go,s through. Then lets send those names off to the proper people ?
Randy Bloom
Let's start with the Serra Brothers.
Lloyd Irvin.
Roy Harris.
Michael Jen.
All would be good choices for the organization which will hopefully represent the growth and regulation of BJJ in the United States.
At least those three from SBGI
Chris Haueter
Matt Thornton
John Frankl
then of course Eddie Bravo (or is this only a sport bjj assoc.?)
and multiple others...and others...and others
c“mon you guys are making an AMERICAN assoc. ....
I.
I heard the next meeting is the same weekend as the Copa Pacifica next month. Maybe you should forward you suggestion to someone who's working on this.
Gilberto at jiujitsuprogear.com would be a good place start.
I think the following Americans would be good candidates:
Rorion Gracie, Royce Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Charles Gracie, Ralph Gracie, Caesar Gracie, Carlson Gracie jr, Rodrigo Gracie, Crosely Gracie, Ryron Gracie, Rener Gracie, Ralek Gracie.
I get the feeling that many on the UG would only accept a Euro-American, or someone of non-Brasilian descent, so maybe the Queen of England would be a good first choice?
If the Americans want to look at a good model for a national federation, Australia is a actually a very good example. We have a national federation under the cbjj, then a number of state federations under that national federation. Each state has its own state circuit (we have 1 no-gi and 3 gi comps per year), then the nationals, then the Pan-Pacifics.
I guess you missed the post where it said Charles and Raplh Graice held the meeting. There the two try to get this off the ground.
I believe using thorton would be a HUGE mistake - from his posts and his website, I am of the opinion he is only interested in his own system. I feel he would be greatly prejudice - this is my own person view - Luis Guiterez on the other hand I feel would make a excellant federation member -
The only other person off the top of my head would be ........................... Randy Bloom, whom I nominate for president/chairman of the federation
