Seperated Shoulder questions

Wow, is this a type 3 separation? I also notice the pain goes all the way to the back of my shoulder, the scapula I think. Should I be feeling this as well with a type 2 seperationor should I just feel it in the front deltoid area? Makees me wonder if I happened to injure other parts of my shoulder.

yup..grade III..what i had/nave

mine was not that painful believe it or not...i was told its because nothing is connected so no rubbing and nerves etc..

I believe grade I and II hurt more...could be wrong

For you folks who have had this injury and have a hard time sleeping.

I was finding that I was impeding my recovery while I slept.

I looked up on a medical website someplace, and they recommended using a big pillow to rest your arm on while you sleep.

So my left shoulder was hurt, and I put the big pillow on my right side. That way if I sleep on my right side, I can rest my left arm on the pillow and the shoulder doesn't slump down into a bad position. It maintains the injured shoulder in a nice, natural angle and speeds recovery.

I had an ac joint seperation with a partial tear about two weeks ago and it was very sore in the bicep and front shoulder area for the first week. I was really scared when it happened b/c I've had a really bad pec tear before that was no fun and about 3 months off the mat.

I got the MRI back and the doc said that surgery is not necessary but eventually I will have to get bone spurs removed or they could effect my rotator cuff. I haven't really taken any time off b/c it doesn't hurt to play open guard with my hand in my belt. I've been rolling 6x10 minute rounds 2x a week and having 2 light days also.

The only issue is that I'm obviously using one side of my body for grips and it puts a lot of strain on that side shoulder and back so I have to cycle one day off every two days to recover.

I start PT tomorrow and honestly I have been very happy to be able to roll and train (with one hand) b/c intially when I heard it pop I was so scared I just about shit my pants. I'm actually expecting to improve my open guard timing and flexibility during this injured period

Did you happen to feel pain in the scapula rear shouldr area too?

I have done my right seperation and my left was fratured.(12 months apart)

It took aleast 6 months for each to 100%.That was 5years ago.

started having problems with my left 6 months ago and had surgery 4 weeks ago on a cuff tear but also had the bone clean up on the ac joint as well. Surgen said it was about 20% of the problem but was more worried about arthtitis later on in life.

From what I understand the ac seperation surgery is not a big deal footballers are back playing in 6weeks.

Also had a cortisone in the first seperation which helped alittle but not much.
Best thing you can do is see specilist upper body surgen
