Hey, I was wondering if I would be able to run a Serial ATA and an IDE drive at the same time?
Yes, if you have a SATA PCI card. But in that case, drive access is limited by the PCI bus. I don't know of any motherboards that have both SATA and IDE native.
Or, run an IDE PCI card on a SATA motherboard.
The mobo I want to get supports IDE and Serial ata. I dont want to combine them I just want to know if I can use both of them while they are hooked up. So when I go to 'My Computer' will there be two drives?
Check the motherboard's manual...it should tell you.
all new 'good" boards have both ide and sata so yes u can run both at same time
Yeah there are a bunch of motherboards with both and as far as I know you can use both at the same time. If there's a specific mobo you're thinking of getting go to the maker's website and download the mobo manual (usually a pdf file) and read through it, it should have all the information there
ttt for asdf learning something new
muhahaha finally, asdf didnt know everything heheh
