Seriously: Do you give CC a chance?

He's getting beat up in just about every fight, and if it wasn't for Barry's injuries he likely would have been finished there as well.  A focused, strategic Mir wins this fight easily, but if they both come in flat as they have in the past it could turn into an ugly war.

I'm a CC fan I just don't like his chances in this fight unless he catches Mir early.

I rewatched the Dos Santos fight. And it was not a onesided beating that i thought i remembered. Mirko was landing often with his straight left on Junior

JDS was busted up with two cuts under his eyes after the fight.

And imo the Crocop who fought Barry was moving much better than the one who fought JDS

Cmon, CroCop has been nowhere near as impressive in the UFC as he was in Pride. Sure he just beat a young hungry Pat Barry but Pat hesitated to finish CC when he could have. Mir is going to take this

I don't think he stands much of a chance, but anyone who is in a position to kick Mir in the face, I will cheer for.

Crocop has been tentative in his recent fights, giving too much space and time to opponents. Mir will be able to do what he wants in this one.

 theres always a chance

mir vs vera

mir vs congo

either can happen

... Honestly I dont see how Cro Cop is in the UFC... Plus, he's always got some excuse when he loses and he's always wanting to retire.... He doesnt have it any more. Dana really surprises me that he hasnt cut him. In Pride they didnt have his number and I think the ring helped him.

I think Crocop's new found humor and ease were mirrored by more fluidity and better movement (especially with kicks) in the Barry fight. It seems like he's not as stressed out and pressured by his Pride legacy If he had a decent camp at all he's going to beat Mir standing via TKO or decision. Mir's striking is mediocre and CCs got a solid chin and anti-Mir sprawl. Phone Post

Just rewatched Barnett 3. We need some Cro Cop uppercuts!

If Mir plays it smart, he has this all day. Since he seems to love his hands, Cro Cop ought to (T)KO him fairly easily. Phone Post

dabigchet - last i checked, CC is a good bet against Mir at something like +180. the last time i was so tempted to bet was when carwin was a similar underdog to mir.

I'm sorry but

If you think Cro Cop at +180 is a good bet, than you don't hit the sportsbook a lot. Mir wins this fight...

Don't get me wrong.. If Cro Cop pulls this out I'll admit I was wrong and give Cro Cop credit... but the guy's last two wins were Al-Turk (eye poke) and HD (A blue belt could of applied that RNC)

Even if your betting 20 bucks.. the value seems good, but its still a waste of 20 bucks. You have a better chance of hitting a parlay with the heavy favorites (and I hate parlays)

The best UD bet imo has to be Stephens.. I believe I saw him at +160.

CroCop has a chance because he fucking hits HARD and Frank does not have a good chin. Problem is, Frank is a VERY AGGRESIVE fighter and that is exactly the type of fighter that has given Mirko FITS his entire career from K-1 to Fedor in Pride to the UFC.

The only person that's been able to take CroCop down repeatedly is Fedor.

Tough matchup for Mir, as his takedowns and standup are his weakest points.

Not being able to get a vicious striker down has got to be a little intimidating.

On a side note...

for the 5th fight in a row...

Frank Mir is in a lose/lose situation.

Frank Wins: The Pride Fanboys and the Lesnar fan boys will say "Cro Cop wasn't even 100%" "Cro Cop hasn't been the same since Pride" "Cro Cop would destroy Mir in 05"

Frank loses: "I told you Cro Cop would win" "I told you Frank Mir was overrated"

I know the guy likes to play a "heel" in mma.. but seriously.. Frank Mir is a top 5 HW in the world and IMO top 20 p4p fighter in the world and yet is the only person on these sites that constantly gets fighter bashed without repercussions.

vicious?

2006 called, they want that post back.

If his Striking is vicious today, than find an adjective for JDS's striking.

I think Cro Cop will win by decision, in a slow paced and tentative stand up fight.

Mir has been 1st round TKOed 5 times or something and has a pirate peg leg. CC could definitely win the fight, but he's making it pretty clear in interviews that he plans to phone it in once the bell rings

First fight against Brock?

Gokudamus stole my name - I rewatched the Dos Santos fight. And it was not a onesided beating that i thought i remembered. Mirko was landing often with his straight left on Junior

Ive only seen it live that night but i thought the JDS fight was close to Gomi's vs Florian. Both guys just looked like they did not want to be there that night. I remember JDS' first advance towards Mirko and how old Mirk looked as he flailed away in retreat very ungracefully, no trace of that quick footwork from before.

I dont remember much offense from CC but thats perhaps i was still holding the old CC image in my head.

Against Barry, it appeared to me that he was focused but did not have the speed/power in his old arsenal and that he used his experience to mix it up a bit more. IIRC he could have slightly been coming off an injury which is why he didnt throw any roundhouses, just front kicks?

The thing with Mir is that he is bigger and has to worry about the tds. I dont think prime CC would have to worry too much about Mirs tds, i think range control and footwork will have a lot to do with boths chances.

I think CC should start off conservatively, focus on keeping it standing first and then throwing a few shots, picking Mir off and then coming on stronger later.

He didn't come back of his own accord, Mazzagatti re-started the fight and took a point from Lesnar for nothing to make him afraid to hit Mir.  that was a gift, not a comeback.
