Australian Authorities following an upsurge in fatal shark attacks over the last few years have tagged over 300 large sharks with electronic tags.
These tags trigger underwater sensors that transmit to a computer which Tweets the sharks location near a beach and details of the shark (size, type, maybe star sign and hobbies) in real time.

Pretty good idea even if it just takes one surfer or bather out of the way of a big shark it's good I think.

Apparently not, science did try to tag the muscle shark but a lot of bent tag needles later and several crew lost they realised he's got too many fast twitch fibres for a successful tagging.
