Shaub to Raiders for draft pick.... ugh

Just read it was a 6th round pick. Ill gladly take Schuab for a 6th rounder. Phone Post 3.0

I did a little more reading, and yep, before this trade the Raiders had to add about $30 million in salary for the 2014 season just to meet the league minimum.  Even with the draft coming up they have to add just over $15 million at this point.  So whether they intend for Schaub to start or back up a rookie (I like the idea of looking at David Carr late in the first round), this was a good pickup.

I like this deal. Even if he doesn't win the job we need an experienced clipboard holder to help McGloin and Pryor. And he will push them in camp. Phone Post 3.0

Pryor is done.  McGloin's future with the Raiders is dependent on what they do in the draft.

cruedi - there are no qb's in this draft worth the number 5 pick. If watkins/clowney/robinson is there the raiders better take one. If not trade down, depending on how far they can get donald or carr.

This won't stop them from taking a qb at the right spot.

hopefully they have a clause in the trade he needs to redo his contract.

I disagree. Bortles is a quality QB and he's going to be the next Phillip Rivers. I doubt the he's going to be available at #5 but you never know.

Any doubt that romo starts there in 3 years? Phone Post 3.0

Do you really believe that? If so it might be time to stop watching football. Phone Post 3.0
Why so serious? He's had a good career. The 3 in the Draft didn't do much in college other than Manziel. He's a 1 yr gap control is all. Raiders suck and he's better than Pryor. They had to spend this money so it is what it is. Learn the cap rules my friend. Phone Post 3.0

Well Rich Gannon disagrees with you

Like Schaub to OAK b/c despite last season he's been productive & now don't have to take QB w that 1st pick which is too early w this group!

I do agree Bortles is the best of this group, but he's not worth a #5 pick. This is just not a year for qbs. This is like the Sam Bradford year.

I swear at the owners yearly meeting they all sit around and Lol at who fucked the Raiders the worst the previous yr. Phone Post

I'm amazed the Raiders didn't trade a 1st rounder. It looks like you're retarded front office has improved slightly.

Cap rules or not its bad move. Now if they manage to draft a qb they will have a body to mentor that qb but is it worth what they are paying him? Phone Post 3.0

The Raiders HAD to spend $30 million dollars to avoid being in violation of the CBA.  No choice.  Would you rather they overpay a solid (if unspectacular) starting QB to play/mentor a rookie for one year, or way overpay someone on a long-term deal and piss even more money away?  Top-shelf free agents aren't going to go to the Raiders under any circumstances.  What would you have done with the extra $30 million and no starting quarterback?

As a Niners fan, I can't even hate you guys anymore, I really hope your team improves so I can actually see competitive football games on Sunday (Raiders games always show here). Phone Post 3.0

Granpa - Adam Schefter is reporting that the Raiders traded a late-round pick for Shaub. Jesus Christ I'm done! Done!

Not only did we trade a draft pick for another mediocre QB, but that means we probably won't be drafting a QB in the draft. FUCK ME FOR BEING A RAIDERS FAN!
This. I really liked Pryor tho, he just needs a little polishing up. Phone Post 3.0

Pryor has had 3 years to polish. I think what we saw last year is the best you're going to get out of him. Phone Post 3.0
