Why did he get fired
What I read is that while he was there, some if the children of the new Sherdog management started to disappear after he sold the site. The suspicion quickly turned to Jeff, and he was fired. It's rumored that some of the parents of those missing kids actually took their vengeance by burning him alive. Nobody really questioned what happened to him, while most people didn't even notice his absence. Shortly after their revenge on Sherwood, dozens of strange articles were written while the staff of the new Sherdog website slept. As the legend goes, when an article was written that didn't properly call out Jon Jones for being a cheater or refered to Cyborg as a chick or called someone other than Saku the GOAT... They would die. It's just a stupid story though. But just in case... DONT FALL ASLEEP!

I believe in interviews Sherwood has cited that the new management had issues with him and vice versa, but didn't elaborate on what they were.
Lets be honest though, anytime you sell a company and decide to try stay on as an employee with no power, your days are usually numbered.
