“It’s just a matter of getting my weight down a little more so I don’t go out there and look like crap in a title fight. The way I fought the other night, I don’t feel like I would have won a title that night. But I do feel like it’s something I’m capable of doing. I just felt like I wasn’t myself that night.”

“If I didn’t make weight, I’d have probably lost that title shot. I made sure to come in there and make it. I’m not that happy with my performance overall, but I am happy I won. I’m ready to move forward and have a better second fight in the UFC.”

In other sports, when a team/athlete has a bad day, faces adversity and a real game opponent, but still gets a win to continue the streak, its seen as a good thing. In MMA you lose your opportunities if you win ugly.

Everything was against shields, his opponents was a terrible style matchup for him, he made mental errors, got caught up in hype, but still pulled it off. I was impressed and I think he deserves the shot more because of it.

I think shields vs fitch makes sense for a title shot but I fear the snoozefest that it might turn out to be.

shields will cut sooner next time. im sure a match between shields and fitch would end just like their grappling match did, with fitch getting his back taken with ease and tapping out.

i know that there is striking in mma, but whens the last time you saw fitch do that? hes getting tapped out if he tries to get in there with shields.

he hasnt fought a top 5 ww and he is in line for a title shot,i think that may count for something.He had to win impressively because of this fact and he didnt
