Cain Velasquez only spent TWO WEEKS acclimatizing himself to the high altitude?
That's crazy!
Common sense tells you that's simply too risky!
Even Conor McGregor is training in Vegas for several months prior to the show to accustom himself to the weather, atmosphere, temperature and vibe of Las Vegas.
Even from a psychological standpoint, it's wise to get a good feel for the conditions of the place.
Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, is 7,000 ft. above sea level. They have high-altitude sports training that takes place there all year, for good reason.
I tried playing a game of basketball after having been living there for a few weeks and was left choking for air. It felt like my lungs were on fire and I was sapped of oxygen and vitality.
No wonder six athletes were throwing up after their fights and Cain couldn't even sip water properly because he was so dizzy and depleted...
Double post.

I love Cain, but there is something incredibly arrogant (or ignorant) about coming only 2 weeks before a fight at that altitude. And in the embedded video or the countdown, he had to be talked into that. Look, we don't know how big a difference that made. But to think that it made no difference and is just an excuse is very ignorant. But back go Cain. Why come in only two weeks before? Hubris? Ignorance? We'll never know.

Wow, is that what happened? If true, that's arrogant and straight up stupid.

Thanks tips.
That's a pretty novel conclusion which you've arrived at.
The problem is, you're just parroting the same shit that everyone else is throughout the 30 threads about the exact same content contained within your post.
The only thing missing from the other threads is your basketball story, which is ok with me.
When i first moved to flagstaff, i got winded walking up stairs or walking and talking on the phone. It took me months before i could roll without dying. Two weeks is pretty pointless. Nothing is gonna change in that time.

Exactly.
I go backpacking in the back countries of California at 10,000 ft & above and it's a totally different game up there. It takes a bit to climatize if you're a flat lander. Can't believe these elite athletes wouldn't think that far ahead and train accordingly.
See the wit, wisdom and folly below...
Keep going, down, farther...

The high altitude anecdote was the difference that mattered.
Say, for instance, you draw a few scribbles on a blank sheet of paper and entitle the work "Mouse-Scratch." Not much would be thought of it. Perhaps even someone like yourself would likewise rebuke you for redundancy and childish simplicity.
Now, imagine Picasso claws a few similar lines on a piece of paper with a pencil and entitles it "Chicken-Scratch." THEN the art world is intrigued by this novel, jejune masterpiece!
I am Picasso...

I went to a high altitude spot and was fucking sick for 2 weeks before I felt halfway normal. I mean throw up sick, felt out of breath, etc
Ever try baking a cake at high altitude? It blows up like a balloon!
Remember dude blowing his nose during the fight? His eye instantaneously blew up like a balloon.
High altitude is a b*tch...
