For political purposes, the evidence indicates, they were willing to go along with the cover story that in the final days of World War II, Hitler married his mistress, Eva Braun, and the two took their lives in a joint-suicide ritual just before the Soviet army entered Berlin.
But the truth is, no one actually saw Hitler commit suicide. There are no photographs documenting a joint suicide of Hitler and Eva Braun, and the bodies of the two were never recovered or preserved for positive identification....

I heard this story before. Braun eventually divorced him or left him, and there's more actual evidenced for her having survived the war than there is for him

Actually, as a matter of fact, there is no physical evidence that Hitler died in a bunker, or died at all near the end of WWII.
The Russians were the first to Berlin, and were the ones who supposedly recovered his body. The Russians for decades have had a skull and a bloodstained couch which was proclaimed to be Hitlers remains, and was supposed to be the physical evidence that Hitler died in Berlin when the Russians were invading. However, around ~10 years ago they tested the DNA on the skull and blood and it turned out to be female DNA! Furthermore, 2 years after WWII Joseph Stalin even told Churchill and Truman that he believed Hitler was still alive. For those who want to call this conspiracy theory crap, because all the children in schools around the world are taught Hitler killed himself, I simply ask you to provide one piece of legitimate evidence, that is not hear-say, that proves he did die at the end of WWII. You will quickly find that there really is now nothing in the way of legitimate evidence to support this theory.
