you gotta figure, the CSAC and NSAC have been running things the same for decades--boxing traditions and stardards.
it's no wonder shogun "was robbed" of a decision against machida.
when you're up against the champ, YOU MUST beat the living shit out of him for the majority of the fight or cleary ko his shit, or you won't dethrone him.
it's been this way for years in boxing. it will be this way for years in MMA.
AND THIS IS WHY I HATE MMA.
thank you.
reminds me of judo a bit... no ?????
It shouldn't matter if some one is the champ or has a better hair cut. The only thing that count's is who won the fight.
As a huge Machida fan I could only give him 2 rounds and that was a stretch
"when you're up against the champ, YOU MUST beat the living shit out of him for the majority of the fight"
sure looked lie this happened last night..
i dunno jjd, although i thought shogun looked like he was delivering the majority of damag aside fm that wicked knee he took, id say he wasnt beating the shit outta him.
beating him, yes. beating the shit outta him, no...
I'm glad that I missed this glorified point sparring yesterday.

I thought Karate teaches kicking?
Nice clinch work Lyoto.
head shots, just look!
bawahahaha
*waits for Mad Kitten to chime in.
i don't think anyone is disputing the percentages. what's hard to gauge is the actual "power" in the power shots.
and imho, machida's shots (although less) were harder and inflicted more damage. he just didn't land enough of them, nor did his style capitalize on a couple of times he had shogun visually hurt.
i really though shogun would've submitted him though.
I thought you would blame some sort of hapa magic powers.
Look at machidas face after the fight.
I thought machida was going to destroy him too but he clearly lost the fight imo.
Most surprised i been of a decision. Machida looked like he could barely walk after.
FCTV-"and imho, machida's shots (although less) were harder and inflicted more damage."
Were you drunk?
More damage?
Shogun looked fine, while Machida's face was cut and bruised, and legs were done!
I think you watched a different fight than the rest of us did?
LMAO!
*and I thought you were an expert w/ a MMA radio show!=)
I think he caught the replay which evidently had a different outcome the second time around....

i despise both of them equally as they score more tail in 1 week then i have my entire life.
that said, shogun was visibly hurt and because machida didnt press, was able to recover. machida got his face punched which showed some superficial damage, but aside from his legs, i dont think he suffered anything that coldve put him away.
What Machida won was 6 stiches to his upper lip , a leg he wont walk on for 3 days, possibly a future deep vein thrombosis ,a pneumonia next week from not being able to take a deep breath due to rib contusions
oh and FCTV, Dan Barrera wants his MMA gloves back!
LOL!
LMAO!
I did not watch it with my judging eyes on, but I see that the power shots by Lyoto were the knees which were few and far between and they were negated by the leg and body kicks of Shogun and Shogun had way more power shots land than Lyoto. When you see the replay of some of the exchanges, many of Lyoto's was not landing, but whether the judges could see that, is questionable depending on their position.
Please tell the guy with the green name on this thread that!
Like Mike said, you don't know if the judges can see how clean these strikes are that land. I know its a heck of a lot easier to see on TV then at ringside.
I was at the football game but found a stream to watch it and it was cool because there was no sound so nobody to influence me. I actually scored the fight 49-46 Shogun with Machida only winning the second round.
It surprised me to hear how much Goldy and Rogan were on Shoguns nuts. I thought Machida was a UFC posterboy.
