I would think since we are paying them our hard earned money and putting our lives at risk being up in the air a hundred miles then we should have the option of bailing if the plane is going down for sure...
I get mad anxiety when I fly thinking if something goes wrong that we are all doomed. I'd rather have some sort of alarm go off that the pilot would trigger to let us know that the plane is going down and we have the option to grab our shoot and jump for your life...
Am I thinking crazy?
Then surely everyone on board would need parachute training prior to flying. Otherwise the family left behind could sue twice.
If the planes going down, just whip it out and try to finish before you are finished. The last race of your life
Ya some sort of an instructional video would be needed. But I'm sure that air ports could afford and pull it off. Make an easy to use chute that's cheap and reliable.
But until than yes my strategy would be to burp my worm one last time on the way down but my god the adrenaline rush while falling to my death would give me instant blue balls.
This is infeasible, and probably impossible. Airplanes would need a significant redesign. You already know how long it takes people to get on the plane through one or two doors; it would be pandemonium with everybody rushing for the exit at the same time. Take also into account that parachutes are not small and airplanes are already cramped, not to mention that if the plane is diving or twirling or even experiencing heavy turbulence then you might not even physically be able to make it to the exit.
Also, depending on the altitude, you would freeze and/or pass out from the thin air.
You put your life in far greater danger driving in a car. Do you worry about your brakes failing every time you approach an intersection? How about some one running a red light and hitting you? Airplanes are doing pretty well as it is, with far and away most of the crashes caused by human error. I am much more excited about driverless cars than for the next big advance in airplane safety.

I'm pretty sure getting in a car crash you have a better chance to survive wearing a seatbelt than you do in a plane falling from the fucking sky.

Kepler - This subject has actually had a fair amount of discussion before, albeit not on here, and the conclusion most experts seem to come to is that air planes can be fitted with one massive parachute to aid emergency landing. Think figures such as 20-30 thousand pounds to have them fitted on one plane. Facts need to be checked :PVU for the awesome idea.
One giant parachute. Genius. Sure Genius.

Tommyunited -No doubt an achievable feat...in the meantime I would gladly pay extra for a personal parachute and accompanying exit row placement and whatever odds that equates to.Kepler - This subject has actually had a fair amount of discussion before, albeit not on here, and the conclusion most experts seem to come to is that air planes can be fitted with one massive parachute to aid emergency landing. Just don't let Muslims board.even if it's just for peace of mind. Imagine how relaxed everyone would be if they didn't see any of them at boarding.
You should try skydiving at least once before saying obvious dumb shit.
Nearly every post in this thread is facepalm worthy, lol. VU Tommy, had a good laugh.

It's not often that planes just fall from the sky. In fact, aside from 9/11, the Tenerife Air Disaster holds the infamous title of most fatalities involving aircraft....and both were on the ground at the time. Indeed, many air disasters take place during take off or landing, during which time a parachute would be useless. None the less, you are much more likely to die in a car than in an airplane.
It sounds like you're just more afraid of falling to your death than being burned alive or smashed, trapped in a car.
FetusofFury -You could be right about me fearing the sky more than the road.. But lets say we are cruising the clouds at an altitude planes usually fly at and something goes wrong in the engine and we know for a fact we are going down. This is a hypothetical scenario but lets just say we all know that this sum bitch is going downTommyunited -FetusofFury - You put your life in far greater danger driving in a car. It would be nice if we could make the decision to live or at least try rather than tucking my face in between my balls and asshole and kissing my gooch goodbye.

WeidmanBrokeTheLEGend - Then surely everyone on board would need parachute training prior to flying. Otherwise the family left behind could sue twice. With old school round chutes fixed line this wouldn't be necessary. You might get hurt but you wouldn't die if dropped without training.

However, jumping out of a jet is no joke. I wouldn't recommend it.
Every passenger would need HALO training to jump from that altitude.
What if your allowed to bring your own shute. and you just do it
You'd be better off if the flight attendant came around with the drink cart twice.
