I'm down to 220lbs from 260
best shape I've been in in five years.
I have ALOT more free time to train now...so...what says the OG?

Do you want to?
nope.
LOL...I do...but I also turn 40 in a month
and my wife isnt real thrilled about the prospect of me fighting again
The odds are you will not get badly injured in a fight, so why not?
I say that you lead by example, and show people that 40 is the new 20.
Cut to 205 and pwn some n00b!
thanks man...I was just shooting to show everybody that 40 is the new 39
well?
do it!
it's settled then...my wife thinks I shouldnt...my friends think I shouldnt...the people at my church think i shouldnt...BUT DANG IT..FERNANDO BELIEVES IN ME!
*sniff*
*wipes tear from eye*
You've already fought. Why not set a new goal and accomplish that? Like climb a mountain or run 10K or a triathalon or something.
did you see where I said I weigh 220 lbs??!!
Do it old man!
40? You could probably fight Tito Ortiz
I was thinking Tito Santana
I just turned 40 and I'm fighting in October. I'm also doing a triathlon in Sept.
Stay active and do what you want. Enjoy your time. Lead by example. Now, go in Peace and serve the Lord... in the cage.
actually what everybody thinks and says is white noise, if it pleases you and makes you happy then do it!
if not continue to be in good shape and enjoy life, goals and accomplishments are meaningless unless you do what is true to you

exactly Fernando...it's not like I'm letting The OG decide...it's something my wife and I will sit down and talk about.
just a fun thread...and get people's input
If it's something you enjoy and would really like to do.
If it's something that you feel physically ready for.
If it's something that you can train more for.
Then by all means fight.
Of course you take your wife's opinion into consideration - but I'm assuming it's for safety reasons and that nobody likes to see their partner get into a position where they can come to harm, especially at the hands of another.
However - if it's a regulated fight, the risk of serious injury is negligable, and if your wife is only "not thrilled" instead of outright hostile to the idea then I think all of the previous points mentioned outweighs her thoughts.
You must also consider possible future poor feelings because of this opportunity that you may have passed up... What would you feel like if you decided under pressure from others not to go ahead with something that you love?
I think in most cases it's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.
So I say - Yes, go ahead and fight.
But for "God's" sake don't tell your wife that some dirty atheist told you to do it...
;-)
what would jesus want you to do?
Jesus: "kick some ass Sherm"
Ya know, judging from the number of winning fighters who thank Jesus, I think it's pretty obvious that Jesus is an MMA fan.
