Should Ricky Hatton fight Amir Khan?

I reckon Hatton will have another fight before the end of the year and then against all better advice given to him, agree to a fight with Amir Khan for the WBA light welterweight title(assuming Khan gets past Kotelnik, which he should).

Khan's chin is dodgy but I still say he chops up Hatton in less than six rounds. His hands are too fast and he has master tactician Freddie Roach in his corner.

You make no sense. If Hatton is done then surely this is the right time for Amir to fight him and make millions before Hatton calls it a day.

Remember, Amir's next fight is for a legit world title. If he wins then he has to be ready for anyone.

I actually thought that even though Hatton got KO'ed in two rounds last time out, in the brief time he was on his feet he looked sharp, fast and in good shape. Not shot by any means.

IF Khan gets past Kotelnik, Hatton should stay as far away as possible from Freddie the master tactician unless he's in his own camp!

I agree that the risks outweigh the rewards for Ricky. If he wins, so what? He fought a china chinned newb. If he loses, he'll have seriously tarnished his reputation.

This.

Witter would make more sense but not enough cash compared to recent pay days.

Plus he has repeatedly said he would never fight Witter.

Perhaps if Witter still held the WBC belt he would want to fight him.

Though he fights for it again on 1 Aug.

Yes, cause I don't like hatton

Why on earth don't you like Hatton?

 1) he was an over hyped hack whose claim to fame was beating and ancient unmotivated Kostya Tzyu who was a wee bit overrated him self to begin with.

2) he seems like a prick, he fired his trainer ( of 17 years) because he could not handle getting beat, then comes out trying to box and gets beatdown even worse with his new trainer. There is a reason his first trainer had him fight the way he did. It is called lack of talent, and I am sure his first trainer knew it.

3) Allowed Mayweather senior to badmouth said trainer

the list goes on and on

Hatton's at a tough point in his career. He no longer can be protected with selective opposition while raking in huge paydays without some fan blowback (which wasn't the case leading up to Tszyu).

His mgmt. has to decide whether or not to take some risks, and Khan is definitely that.

Hatton needs an easy fight to get back on track and then after that he's good to go. He's faced the best there is, its not like he has anything to be scared of from future opponents

Hatton has plenty of talent, anyone who says otherwise has just simply never watched the man fight. He hasn't shown it lately but he's probably the best still-active body puncher in boxing, even if he has nothing else going for him

Actually his first trainer believes Hatton has immense talent. That is why eh started training him full time when he first saw him box as a 17 year old.

Hatton also never fired his first trainer Billy Graham. Graham is in dreadful physical shape and can barely get through a session holding the pads for Hatton. He was having to use cortisone injections before each session on the pads, for instance.

Hatton, his family and team could see this and felt such circumstances were detrimental to the boxers success and wellbeing, so they planned to get another coach in to help train Ricky. He and Graham would then share training duties.

But Graham wanted none of that and so he and Hatton parted ways.

I think Amir takes Hatton at this point. I think it would come down to speed. I am not sure how much power Amir has at 140 though but I think he would swarm Hatton.

Roach would be key to this fight

Is Hatton still working with Mayweather?
