Showtime to air K-1 PPV 6/9/07

NEW YORK (June 6, 2007) – SHOWTIME will replay complete matches featuring Brock Lesnar and Royce Gracie’s milestone victories plus highlights of other exciting fights from Saturday’s historic pay-per-view event ProElite presents Dynamite!! USA. The one-hour telecast will air Saturday, June 9, at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will precede a live special edition of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING featuring former undisputed light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver and current WBC 175-pound king Chad Dawson making the first defense of his title. 
 
The delayed telecast is highlighted by the highly anticipated MMA debut of former USC and NFL star Johnnie Morton, which came to a spectacular and devastating end at the hands of Tae Kwon Do specialist Bernard Ackah. 
 
Another MMA newcomer, Brock Lesnar, delivered a dominating performance with a submission win over late replacement Min Soo Kim.  The former collegiate and pro wrestling star now has a bright future in the MMA arena and has quickly become one of the most talked about fighters in the sport.    
 
Also featured in the one-hour special is Royce Gracie in his long awaited dual with Kazushi Sakuraba. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu master finally avenged his family name against Sakuraba, who has been dubbed “The Gracie Hunter� for his defeat of four different Gracie family members. Royce also exacted revenge from his previous loss to Sakuraba, an epic, 90-minute record-setting battle in 2000.
 
And finally, fans can relive one of the most exciting and surprising fights of the year – an upset win by Don Sik Yoon over Melvin Manhoef in spectacular fashion.
 
            The explosive ringside action was called by Mauro Ranallo with renowned celebrity Bill Goldberg and Jay Glazer serving as color analysts. The executive producer of the SHOWTIME PPV telecast was David Dinkins, Jr. with Emmy award winner John Faratzis directing.
