Erick Silva had a legit chance to finish this fight and he did not, and Brown was lucky that Silva did not go to his body during that 1st knockdown. Sounds like im butt hurt that Silva lost. Gotta say tho that if after first knockdown due to body shot, if Silva had let him up and pursued same strategy of shots to body, he might have has more success than the prolonged and failed sub attempt which left him gassed and demoralised..

Silva is not exactly known for his fight IQ. Making aggressive mistakes is part of his makeup as a fighter. He's the Brazilian Melvin Guillard. Expecting him to 'fight smart' is going to end in disappointment every time.

The only mistake Silva made was thinking that he was going to walk through Matt Brown.
Brown is a fantastic fighter.
Welcome to the sports world? Your first time watching one? A land of mistakes and opportunism. One man was better and one man put so much pressure on that the other couldn't think about anything but surviving rather certain strategies. Silva took so many shots to the head lol.
I think a lot of good grapplers don't do enough "softening"...If you take the back and don't have the opponent belly down while striking him, then bodylock withstanding, it's primarily recovery time to clear the cobwebs. And to make things worse, the grappler will resort to the type of submissions that end him up on the bottom.
I think grapplers need to:
- put themselves into dominant positions that allow for great softening strikes
-learn to secure subs while maintaining dominant top position.
Silva made a mistake, he signed a fight against Matt Brown.

Many people thought Matt beat Stun Gun in their first fight, and Matt has improved much more than Stun Gun has since then.
Lombard? What is the reasoning behind this matchmaking? Take a guy on a hot streak and see if a guy who just stunk up the joint with lay and pray can do it again?
