So my sister recently broke up with her longtime boyfriend and he’s been screwing around with all of her banking stuff. His name isn’t on the accounts but somehow the bank let him close them, same with the insurance on her car. The bank is saying there is nothing they can do, but I don’t understand how someone that isn’t the account holder can take out all the money and close the accounts.
Could she take legal action against these companies, or is she Sol?

I don’t know how he’d be able to transfer money and close an account if he’s not on it. If he was on the account he could do that without a problem. If the latter is the scenario then it would go to small claims court.

She definitely could be lying. Her ex was a total shit bag that lied about everything, she’s pretty dumb to stay with him for so long. Based solely off of her story the bank said too bad, the insurance place just put her insurance back on for no fee. They have kids, so they have a court case and stuff in the works I just tell her to document everything that happens, and report stuff to the police.
I cant do anything about it because we live on opposite sides of the province. And I haven’t given her any money.
