As innovative as they come imo. Definitely worth a watch!

I remember the first time I saw him skate.  I had been playing a shitload of Tony Hawk and I was blown away that rodney was able to do those combos that were on the game . Manual to kickflip into a grind and back into another manual . Is there anybody else that can pull that stuff off ?

Subbed for later

First time you saw Mullen was when pro skater came out? Jesus christ. And as Larry mentioned Daewon Song. Ready to have your mind BLOWN, they even had a few videos together.

And the Enjoi shirt is one of my favorites of all time.

Watch the video and you'll see who takes that crown from Daewon's mouth. They were both leap years ahead of their time but Rodney was on another level imo. He created damn near every trick in the book.

if you like rodney you should check out andy anderson his like rodney and jay adams or duane peteres rolled into one.

Alex chalmers was my favorite pro back when I was a teen, after he was in the tony hawk games it was hillarious to hear kids talking at the park like "alex chalmers is here"  when he literally skated there almost daily and they still had no idea who he was.

Just to be that guy, Rodney can never be the greatest... He wouldn't ride vert because "his mom wouldn't let him" and he never did anything truly daring (lie Danny Way, Bob and many others).

Greatest freestyler, perhaps.

Yeah you're that guy. Tony Hawk is in the video calling him the God Father. Guaranteed Danny would agree. Innovation and trying shit to possibly kill yourself are two very different things in my opinion and if you really knew what you were talking about it was his dad that always held him back. Imagine if he didn't..

I'm with you. Goat technical land tricks sure. But I wouldn't even mention him for all around street goat.

I could totally discount vert becuse that's it's own thing. But he doesn't even have the big street aspect of launching stairs and big nasty rails. I'm not totally versed on him so I may be off on that.

Anything ive seen he's always dicking around on the ground and small ledges/curbs. Which is fine and he's isnaley great at it and that's where he's in the talks for the best.

But just "goat" overall is too broad to include him imo.

You dont know skateboarding if you do t consider Mullen the goat.

There is no argument…

Yup I'm not responding anymore lol

Yeah man, sorry about misquoting an interview I read on Thrasher or Skateboarder more than 30 years ago... IIRC he said "my parents".

 Imagine if he didn't..

Well, he stuck to his thing after he became an adult and never did anything really daring after that...there's not much else to imagine.

Anyway, as someone who rode vert and pools, and looked up to skaters who did that as well, I obviously feel like he doesn't deserve the title of gratest... it's more a matter of opinion, of course, and I apologize for sounding dickish in the previous post and in this one...

Yes, damn near every pro skateboarder today. Haha. The guys today are doing the craziest shit you've ever seen. Skateboarding is fucking nuts these days.

Did every trick there is on the street before they had names.

I do not follow skatebording. Why is Tony Hawk better known than this guy if he is the GOAT? Marketing? I saw someone say he did not do vert stuff, was vert just more popular than freestyle and that is why Tony is better known to the general public?

Tony Hawk is the GOAT

Bc in the 90's XGames pumped those cats WAY more than the street guys. Funny thing (and people would understand this IF they watched the video) Tony admits he got a lot of his style on very DIRECTLY from Rodney. He's the GOAT and all of these other guys people are posting stuff on would absolutely agree.

"Rodney was a the best freestyle skater, invented a ton of cool little tricks..."

Thats cute
