Something weird happened today in sparring and I can't find any videos on YouTube or explanation was wondering if anybody had any thoughts
So I was in my single leg x position crossed over his hip to go to a heel hook, which caused him to start to turn and run away. I was losing the leg so scrambled after him to grab around his waist shifted my shin to the back of his knee and got a calf slicer. Is this jiu jitsu madness of scrambling? Or does someone have a video I can study??? I'm definetly gonna work shop, but it seemed like a cool movement I'd like to look at pro's doing. Churrs
Charles Oliveira did it in the UFC. It's a fairly standard sequence when some tries to bail from the heel hook. I'd imagine if you searched reverse calf slicer from heel hook you'd find something.
standard sequence.... Also pretty reasonable to do from kneebar/toe hold position such as being in bottom 1/2 guard and going inverted to attack his free leg.... He tries to push away but you put the calf of your 1/2 guard leg over the back of his knee as you come up to take his back.
VU to everyone. Thanks heaps for the gifs zeber. I've only really started looking at heel hooks in the last 6 months. I've seen Ryan Hall get to the same
Calf slicer position from deep half but says that it very rarely works so he lets them
Escape to put them in 50/50 and start attacking the heel hook again. Seems like a really sequence. Thanks again guys!
My buddy Nick hit a similar move in competition a few years ago.
Here's the vid. Great conifer to someone spinning out of the heel hook.
