I'm loving this smaller cage for the smaller venue. They should use this cage for every event. Forces action on the fighters and the fights tonight are proving it. Awesome.
i agree. especially with the lighter weight classes.
Is it smaller? Didn't notice, but the fights have been excellent so far!
bump
For SURE!
During the last FOX event they also sseemed to be pushing the Refs to seperate when stalled out on the cage a LOT faster than normal. I think those two things combined would REALLY help fix some of the stalling and lackluster fights.

Fuck yeah that cage is tiny
Funny you would say this after a boring TUF finale fight that relied heavily on a lot of cage hugging.
The small cage is due to Dana moving the venue after his tiff with the Palms. Not the best spot for a UFC event.
Agree, noticed this a year or so ago.
It's the same size as the WEC cage, right? They've been using it for some time, and I agree that they should use it for all fights.
agreed!

They should just make holding the center of the cage considered octagon control.

The Palms used a smaller cage also for both UFC and WEC events.
whadafykumeanitstaken - How can a proffesionl fight org essentially change the dimensiins off their playing field feom event to event? Would the NFL ever expect its plauers to practice and train on a 100ydpallet field and play out its games on a 70 yd field? Joke.
Scoring in the nfl is based on the parameters of the field. The octagon just provides a platform on which to do the scoring. Bad analogy.

Baseball stadiums all have different dimensions and it works out fine.

In boxing, ring size is negotiated with each fight (I'm thinking big fights).
In smaller circuits, one promotion could have a bigger ring than the other, it's not a big deal.
This is why I liked the WEC. It creates more action with less room to circle and avoid your opponent.
The wec cage is perfect.
Yeah I noticed this too. Makes a legitimate difference.
was the foreign tuf on friday and the tuf 16 finale both wec sized cages?
