Smashing Machine Forgotten?

Is Mark Kerr forgotten among the all time greats? Im not saying he should be #1, but whenever the greats are talked about Kerr is nowhere to be found.

He had an incredibly dominating run up untill the Fujita fight where you could see him mentally break and quit.

Did his losses at the end of his career diminish his stock too much? Or did the game just pass him by skillwise? Was it too short of a time period of dominance? Why is he so overlooked?

WVC 3 Heavyweight Champion
UFC 14 Heavyweight Champion
UFC 15 Heavyweight Champion

ADCC 1999- 99+kg 1st place
ADCC 2000- 99+kg 1st place
openweight 1st place
ADCC 2001- Superfight-defeated Mario Sperry

He also beat the likes of Josh Barnett(twice), Rigan Machado, Leo Vieira, Ricco Rodriguez, Ricardo Alemeida on the way to his ADCC titles.

He was such a mess.

And such a beast.

his documentary made me less of a fan (but even more of a mark coleman and igor fan)

Truth

I think the blatant abuse of juice made him lose his luster in the eyes of a lot of fans.

Not me though - he was a monster.

Nexuscrawlers - his documentary made me less of a fan (but even more of a mark coleman and igor fan)

I agree with you on the point of Coleman and Igor. How did the documentary hurt him in your eyes? You didnt feel for him at all? Was it the whining and excuses? or the giving up? I couldnt help but feel sorry for him more than anything... Seems like a waste of talent more than a flop.

StevetheWeasel - He's from my hometown, and they've got a HS Wrestling pic of him blown up to a poster at his old school. Even then he was built like a monster. I've never seen any 17-18 year old kid look like such a beast.

He was a great fighter, and I feel bad for him for all he went through. But, honestly he came out of it all a whole lot better than he could potentially have.

He definitely deserves a lot of respect for his accomplishments. During his reign at the top it seemed unfathomable that anyone would ever beat him.
+1 to me he is always #1 in forgotten fighters. Didnt know him but to me it did seem that his wife was big part of his downfall because Mark was just too "nice and kind". I dont know how explain in English.

I always liked Kerr but now that hes back with his GF from the documentary I cant help but feel like hes just a glutton for punishment!

During his tear he just destroyed people. Where you actually cringe and feel bad for the other fighter. I just feel like maybe he deserves to be recognized or at least discussed as an all time great... Maybe not for his career as a whole but up until Fujita like The Weasel said "During his reign at the top it seemed unfathomable that anyone would ever beat him."

I believe he is selling cars now.

By the way great GIFS DamnSevern! Really portrays how scary and dominant he was at that time.

DamnSevern great gifs as usual.

Damnsevern got the video. Edited to delete link.

Kerr's fine, after a successful career as a luxury car salesman, he's currently pursuing a career in pharmaceutical sales.

He was a beast physically...but I've never seen anyone ( I dont think) that liked getting hit LESS than him.
