so Aldo - Edgar is no longer for 'interm title'?

With all this retirement bs from McGregor i assume this is Zuffa's next move. Getting the title off of him asap should be UFC's main priority.

Has UFC officially stripped him of his title yet?

I hope this doesn't end up being a Randy Couture situation. Phone Post 3.0

They won't strip Conor because he's not retired. Dana will blow Conor and swallow. Conor will forgive. Both will make millions. Phone Post 3.0

Don't believe they have stripped him just pulled from the event Phone Post 3.0

But he's "retired"... lol Phone Post 3.0

I think they need to make it for the title. Unless CM changes his tune quickly you can't retire and still be champion. You can take a break, get injured, hold out, but you can't announce retirement and stay champ.

I think they'll give it a few more days then decided based if they are able to work things out. Phone Post 3.0

I'll be SO mad if this isn't for an interim title!!!! Phone Post 3.0

the fight definitely shouldn't be an interim title fight anymore

If he gets stripped it will be the biggest mma story of 2016 so far Phone Post 3.0

I know and I think this is why it is so interesting because if he is really playing the retired card they have no choice but to strip him. If not then we all know there is fuckery afoot and the UFC/McNugget are up to no good Phone Post 3.0

This. If he's gone public saying he's retired he's forcing the UFC's hand here.

I will be shocked if Aldo-Edgar match isn't for the actual title.

Wölfie66 - Notice how the UFC are sitting on that fact? If it were anyone else they would have already made it public that they had been stripped and the Aldo-Edgar fight would be for the title.

Its just two people who aren't sucking each other off at the moment and having a bitch fight. I wouldn't be shocked that he is re-added to UFC 200 within the week.

Perhaps. I feel bad for Nate Diaz. Hope he gets a fight instead of missing out on probably his biggest payday.

McGregor isn't retired. A tweet doesn't replace the necessary paperwork Phone Post 3.0

god I hope so.

an interim title is never okay

Make it a vacant title. Teach a man a lesson. Phone Post 3.0

He'd have to make an official retirement and put it in writing.

Dana won't strip him until that happens, he's hoping conor will give in. It's definitely a bitch fight right now.

If you can't do it, how do you explain he did it, and they didn't strip him?

If they haven't stripped him and it actually takes time in order to strip him (you mentioned a few days) then clearly you can do it. There's a time threshold one must eclipse prior to being stripped. If we follow your logic.

What we have here, is Zuffa can make up the rules as they see fit. If they are holding out for Mcgregor to come back, they don't want to strip him, because the UFC newbs fall for that title bit in the promotion. Without it, he's just Conor, as opposed to having world champion next to his name. Like these silly interim titles that pop up, left and right. We all know that's just there for marketing purposes. When's the last time a legit interim title was needed? Barao?

This is about Zuffa preserving their cash cow in it's best use to them, should all the posturing blow over, and resolve itself. The guy could stay retired with the belt, for a year, if Lorenzo felt they could gt him back. Lets not pretend like this is a real sport with actual integrity.

A retired guy, who fled the weight class long ago, and never defended his title, stripped of the belt, well into his retirement?

No way that eclipses Jon Jokes next run in with the law. It's just completely meaningless.

There is no stripping.

Upon retiring, you have surrendered the belt.

He's no longer champion, as he has walked away from the UFC. What is it the UFC need to strip? Did they strip GSP? Of course not. There was nothing to strip, he was no longer a UFC fighter.
