mrtapout, you guys ever do open mats?

like the ons at the old mjj?

i think we rolled a few times at those....

And there's Cota's Martial Arts in Tustin. Ray Cota is a 2nd degree under Joe Moreira.

Great school, reasonably affordable, but it's much less hard-core than Next Gen, Millenia, or any big name place.

I'm interested in going more intense, and I live near Franco's school though... K-Dub, gimme some info.

I train with Javier also. He is a great instructor and everyone can learn something from him. He is not afraid to show you anything. So it's great for beginners as well as advanced students.Directions to Javier Vazquez's studio in La Habra.

Is Javi's school mostly gi or no gi?

Ralph Gracie OC is in Placentia is very good. There are two world class instructors, Brad Jackson, a Ralph bb and Renato, who had a great match with Leozinho at the panams, lost by an advantage. #714-524-7880

Brad is an amazing instructor, I've never seen anyone breakdown and explain techniques the way he does. I would recomend anyone looking for a school in oc to check this school out, and this isn't even my school.

MrTapout: Does Javi teach all of the classes? Are there any other instructors? And generally, what's the demographic of the students there? Thanks for your response brah. I'm gonna make my way down to the school, but I need to get in shape before I start training again.

don't like the gi.

i'm going back to mjj,i just wish it didn't move...it's a drive for me now.

I would highly recommend BJJ Black Belt and Full Instructor in Jeet Kune Do, Ken Gabrielson, he teaches in Cypress, CA. He got his BJJ Black Belt from Relyson Gracie. Very nice guy and great teacher.

sam pai kenpo, where is ken's school in cypress? is there a name and website i can check out? i live in hb,work in orange, but i dont really feel like paying the 150 a month for the hb schools, so i'm weighing my options before i make a commitment. any help is appreciated thanks.

Losmeister...Ken closed his school and now teaches out of his house in Cypress. He teaches privates and also has a class, once a week. The only number I have his is cell phone. If you want to e-mail me your phone number, I will call him and give him your number. Ken is the real deal.

Dude, to reiterate checkyouroil's sentiments, BJJ is everywhere out here in SoCal. Check www.bjj.org.

So, is Javier at Showtime, and not Millenia? Or what's the deal?

Max

Javi is at his own academy called Showtime Jiu-Jitsu in La Habra. It is still affiliated with Millennia, but his academy is mostly gi training. Millennium over in Rancho Cucamonga is no-gi, and trains NHB and Jiu-Jitsu. He still drops by Millennia from time to time, mostly on Thursday nights, and afternoons. He is not an official instructor over at Millennia, but he is there every once in a while. We all are still close friends, and hangout and train together. Some students train at both Showtime and Millennia.

Also check out Jonh Ramriez and John Ouano @ Newbreed Academy. You'll get gi, no-gi, NHB, and striking there.

Brad Jackson at ralphgracieoc.com is flat out amazing with the way he breaks down moves. check him out for sure. Just a few miles from him in Tinguinha at GracieBarra Anaheim. He's great too. Javier is a good choice and there is a niec although smaller school in Long Beach run by Marcelo Perdomo and his cousin Alan Carvalho. Alan is actually a Luta Livre black belt and that place is worth checking out. You can call marcelo at 562 331 0138
