So is it really Boxing vs MMA if....

...the Boxer has to learn MMA just to compete?

I like your new elitist streak.  You may yet have potential, young padawan.

Well technically he doesn't have to learn anything else.. nobody is making him..

Monsters Ball - I would say the answer is yes Abe.

Toney is still known as a boxer and that is primarily the weapon he will be bringing into the cage.
See, I have to disagree because its' not pure Boxing, he's learning to wrestle in order to Box. He's learning JJ in order to get up and Box. If you're pitting 2 sports against each other then you have to do it in the purest form to claim superiority. We both know Boxing is utilized in MMA so what if Toney gets beat to the punch, does that mean he would lose a Boxing match?

After a few months of MMA training: Absolutely.

After five years, they're an MMA'er.

how long is this pro only trend going to continue, cause my pro runs out in 2 months and i'm too poor to buy another one

Become a good poster bakalol, somebody will buy you one.

Monsters Ball -

I see Toney following the Cro-Cop game plan. Learn enough skills to defend and stay alive long enough to execute your own offense. Cro-Cop learned enough MMA to keep fighting so he coudl use his MMA. Toney will hopefully learn enough grappling to be able to execute his boxing. But both guys are what they are. Mirko was a Muay Thai fighter and Toney is a boxer.

Mirko is now an MMA fighter who finished his last fight via submission. But Toney is a long way from that point and is still primarily a boxer.

At least that's how I see it Abraham.
It's a good point but Boxers still have to learn additional skills to even compete, right? Could a pure Boxer really fight an MMA'er without getting the first punch off?

fujita choked out a boxer standing in a match where the rules were sort of made to protect the boxer

Who fought Fujita that was a boxer curiously?

Imamu Mayfield - Boxer

Well if "wrestlers" are supposedly ruining MMA by coming in and "wrestling" which would suggest they aren't learning MMA then why can't a boxer just come in and box?  Maybe if done right, boxing can easily be defend?
