I always thought it was illegal. I thought that's why people didn't use it. Is this legal or not? If it's legal, I don't know why people haven't used it before now, unless it's because it leaves the arm more vulnerable for an arm bar or triangle.
What are the actual rules in regards to grabbing the trachea with the hand?
My understanding is that you can place your hand on the throat, but you cannot squeeze the trachea. You can grab the neck.
Mario Sperry was teaching this in his instructionals many many years ago.
