So Long Strikeforce!!!

Was fun while it lasted...

Fedor is M-1

cry strikeforce

I actually think they will be better off after tonights events..

em won't strikeforce just sell another show on a rematch???

If that lame night of fights punctuated by a brawl didn't kill them, I don't see why this would. If anything after Fedor's next fight, they shouldn't have to pay him as much, and can tell M-1 to take their co-promotion and shove it.

I'll bet you saw Fedor tapping in the first too /sarcasm.

SF has been around since 1988 but why do people want to see it go away? The more Org. there are, the more events we get to see. This place is turning into Sherdog.

LOL at losing 1 fight in one decade = end of non UFC Orgs... gosh these retarded tools

I actually think this could be better for Fedor & Strikeforce. Now there will be a LOT more interest in a Fedor rematch. Then they have Overeem as well to match Fedor & Werdum. And then possibly Barnett somewhere down the road.

And for all the people saying that one fight doesn't equal the end of an Org., it's not outside the realm of possibility. It's what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket and spend all your money and promotional efforts on one fighter. You had EXC fall after Kimbo was defeated, you had Affliction cancel an entire event when Fedor pulled out (which led to their end as a promotion).

Dan Hendoerson Losing to a guy who will prbably be in the UFC now.

Mousasi Losing
Frank Shamnrock retiring
and now Fedor losing

Lol @ anyone who thinks things are looking good for strikeforce

I don't think anyone wants to see Strikeforce fail, but I think that past experience should teach anyone looking to start a promotion that putting all your eggs in one basket (Kimbo in EliteXC, Fedor in Affliction) is probably a poor business decision. And if the talk about giving Fedor (who has one last fight on his contract) is true, then it's a lesson that they haven't learned.

Fedor 'The Promotion Killer' Emelianenko

Strikeforce will be fine. M-1 on the other hand....

I don't think StrikeForce will ever go away. Even if they end up losing buckets of money and/or lose their huge tv deals or anything else, they can always contract and go back to being a regional San Jose promotion with less name fighters.

Strikeforce certainly isn't going away after this.

Whether Fedor's loss hurts or helps the promotion is ultimately in Strikeforce's own hands. If Coker is smart, Werdum will fight Overeem and there will not be an immediate rematch with Fedor. That's going to be a hard sell to M1 since their agenda will obviously be immediate redemption for their cash-cow. Strikeforce needs to start thinking long-term, beyond the length of any Fedor contract in order to make the best of this.

It's weird to me to that everyone thinks last night spells the demise of Strikeforce. It was a good card and it seems to validate their heavyweight division more than anything.

I don't think casual mma fans were interested in Fedor enough to begin with for his loss to sink the promotion. I'm interested to see the ratings from last night though.

CBS chose not to put last nights show on network TV.

That's not a good sign for Strikeforce.
