I am a Franklin nutthugger and the fight was over. No early stoppage in my oppinion. He was in a position to get seriously hurt if the fight was not stopped.

Yea if that fight doesn't get stopped Silva jumps on him and does some serious Damage. Other times when we've seen Franklin get rocked he recovers right away, but this time was very different

I'm as big of a Rich Franklin fan as you'll find. However, saying that fight was stopped prematurely is assinine.
Honestly, what is it going to take for a fight to be considered "fairly stopped"? Having someone beat to death inside the Octagon?
It seems like no matter how severe the stoppage, you get one or two on here everytime claiming the fight was wrongfully stopped.
admittedly I am disappointed...but this is not the reason for my post...I just think a title fight with fighters as seasoned as those two should be allowed to continue until they give up or are not awake...not dead...just not awake or unwilling to fight any more...If Silva had fallen on Rich and tried to continue, Rich would have come up with something...I am not saying it would have been enough but who can say for sure unless they let it happen

ok ok fine...Rich was definitely rocked no doubt...possibly even half way out while he was standing...and likely very glad when the fight was stopped... BUT...Rich is a champion with tons of heart...there is a chance he could have regained composure and mounted a defense if given just a few seconds..odds are against it but again..this is a title fight
Anyone who wanted this fight to continue must really not care at all about Rich Franklin's health. He was on the mat and barely seemed to know where he was, while Silva was standing above him poised to rain down strikes to Franklin's already jacked-up face. If Big John had waited another 5 seconds to stop the fight, Franklin's career would likely be over right now.
That fight was over, no question about it.
