Even a #1 contender might be a little much...
He hasn't fought in 1.5 years. The division is weak, but I feel like if he wins he should have one more fight, then a #1 contender match.

I agree. He brings it.
That said he should fight someone like Okami/Sonnen next to see where his wrestlign defense is...that would be a good test, and I could see a title shot if he beats either of them.
As a Belcher fan though, you should want him to slowly work his way up, since Anderson is set to retire in 4/5 more fights :-D.

I actually would put some money on MacDonald if I was betting. I think Belcher is the favorite but at +210 or so I'd bet on the Athlete.
I think belcher is overrated by a lot of people and he needs some more solid wins before we start talking about him contending for the title. He is one of those fighters that is just kind of average everywhere and not great at anything imo.

How do you figure? If JMac can get it to the ground it'll be a short night for Belcher, his subs are awesome.
He's going to have a lot of ring rust and probably is a little concerned about getting popped that eye.
He needs 3 great wins to be even consiered for a titile shot.
