Soares: Silva can beat Jon Jones

<p>Prior to losing the middleweight title, the big super fight on the table was Anderson Silva versus Jon Jones. Silva however was KOd by Weidman, but will have a rematch with Weidman in December. Long time manager Ed Soares is confident that not only will Silva regain the middleweight title, but would like to see the super fight with Jones:</p>
"I believe Anderson is the best fighter on the planet, period. Any weight class. I believe he has a bigger danger to any fighter he faces than any fighter has towards him. Can he be beat? Of course he can be beat. Anybody can be beat, but you put him against any fighter in any weight class and I think he has a better chance of beating them than they do beating him. I think he'll beat him. I do think Anderson can beat Jon Jones. Not taking anything away from Jon Jones. Incredible athlete, but he doesn't have the experience and I think a well-trained Anderson Silva would beat Jon Jones."

He does have the same reach, or longer iirc. Isnt gus only 76 and andy 77.5? If you were speaking to striking power, I would also argue anderson there.

Anderson can beat anybody....... when he's fighting and motivated, but it's not always the case with this weirdo. The dude is so naturally gifted that he's been able to defend the belt by disrespecting the sport and humiliating his opponents, wich was amazing and spectacular, he's a freaking alien. But after he tried to beat Weidman by dancing the lambada i hope he understand that it's not always going to work.
i hope we get more hard hitting insightful news like this in the future.... like maybe hearing who anderson's training partners pick to win the rematch vs. weidman... then maybe compare that to the answers from weidman's camp... i cant wait

I would LOVE to see Silva beat bones...but maybe like 3-4yrs ago. I'm not sure Andy has it in him to go 5rds with that monster today. I think Silva is the GOAT 100%. But bones is a different kind of animal. I'm afraid he'd take Silva down and hell-bow him to death.

If the referee hadn't stopped the fight, then Chael managed to survive the rest of the round, and then the fight was waved off in between rounds because of Jones's injured toe, I doubt they would've given the belt to Chael. It probably would've been called a no contest.
I'm not sure about Anderson at this stage in his career. But then again we have never seen anything like Andersons reign. He got clowned by Weidman and paid for not taking that beast seriously. Dont know how the rematch plays out if anderson actually comes in with serious intent and in shape. Weidman always has the ground game to grind him out but in a straight striking match where Anderson actually fights smart doubt weidman can touch him
I always thought a fight between anderson and Jones would have been amazing Imagine the 2 most innovative and effective strikers ever to grace the cage putting on a display. Spinning elbows from Jones, 6-9 elbows (Fryklund KO is always a fave), knees from crazy angles from both, front kicks to the face, kicks to the knees. dear god it would be amazing if those two decided to keep it standing. However think Jones would eventually put him on his back and win with ground and pound.
disbeliever - I think Anderson currently has the better skill set over Jones, and experience. I don't think Anderson can overcome Jones physical advantages though, such as youth and reach.
This is what makes it a very intriguing match up. Needs to happen right away if Andy wins.
