Social interaction

Is non existent anymore. Go to a restaurant and look around. People are sitting right in front of each other and not saying a word. Staring at their phone like zombies. I admit I can be just as bad sometimes when shit gets boring, but what happened before phones? I'm 24 so legitimate question. I'm assuming we had to actually talk to people. Phone Post 3.0

Who gives a fuck.

A. People used to bury their face in newspapers and books.
B. All those people ARE actually talking to other people over the internet.

THE HORROR!

OP spotted on the far left...

People did talk more face-to-face in these venues.

I have coffee with a co-worker quite a bit, and we end up fucking with our phones most of the time.

It's pretty strange but it's understandable, I think.

Is this your way of saying you don't have any friends, op?

Brockback Mountain is strangely angry at KASINO, who only posted a discussion point.

My God, KASINO is under attack for merely posting a topic to discuss on this nice Sunday morning.

Not angry its just people harkening back to a time that never existed.

Teenager used to sit there sullen and looking down. Adults attempted to be polite and were forced to make conversation with people there because thats all they had.

Now you can speak with the whole world.

Do you think there is a difference between strangers commuting to work on a train and dining at a restaurant (or at home) with your family and/or friends?? Phone Post 3.0

I agree with you there.

The so-called good ol' days is always a myth.

OTOH, I sometimes wish we didn't always have our phones out during times at restaurants, etc.

just wait in a couple years everyone will be sitting at the diner with their vr goggles on. except you wont actually be in the diner, youll be at home watching it through your own vr goggles thinking about how social things were back in the day when people actually went to diners

`i hate going to restaraunts with my gf, she dicks with her phone the whole time while i have nothing to do but watch

OP's talking about people that know each other sitting down to eat.  Strangers on a train are entirely different.

It's definitely better pre smart phone days.  I'm not one of those people that get mad when you so much as look at an incoming text during a meal, but to have your face buried in your phone the whole time isn't my thing

This.
