sociological survey is up

I made a post a couple of weeks back about the sociological study being done. the survey is up and can be taken at the link below. It doesn't take too long, and fighters and fans are encouraged to take it. Thanks

done and done.

Jshemanski, not to knock your project at all.  But I really dont understand how your department allowed such a survey to take place, considering the participants could be taking the test multiple times; hence ruining your statistical data.    They are allowing surveys to be taken online these days?

Thats pretty cool.

Hollywood Mo,

You have an excellent question about taking the survey online. And yes there is a very real threat to statistical validity if those who take the survey do so more than once. However, this will just be a limitation that I must address by explaining that this could be a possibility when presenting my results. I hope that those in the MMA community understand that this research is real and could have real policy implication. Therefore, I urge those who take the survey to only do so once so that the skewness of results will be as limited as possible. Thank you for your question and concern.

Sincerely,
Christian Vaccaro

Im interested in your hypothesis. Where you trying to make some type of correlation between aggressive behavior in normal day to day life, with the interest in MMA?

There are several things that we are looking at.

Social reinforcements, Low-self control, anger trait, and proactive coping strategies are among them.

Basically we are trying to learn a little bit of scientific knowledge about the psychosocial traits of fighters and fans.

I will share my result once the analysis is complete. In the mean time I would encourage everyone to pass this survey on to as many fighters and fans as possible. I would like to get over 1000 respondents (a very large sample) so that stastical errors are minimized.

sincerely,
Christian Vaccaro

Done. My major is in Communications/Social Psychology. I am interested in reading the outcome of your study. I have done a few of these and the results are always very interesting.
