the new infection trends dont look good in some big population states:

Arizona

In Illinois, it's two things

1) There is a huge increase in the number of tests occuring. There are more than twice as many testing centers open than there were a month ago

2) The weather has been warming up and the minority populations in Chicago have done a piss-poor job of social distancing. So people are going out and congregating more. And recently, churches in minority areas have refused the Gov and Mayors orders and have resumed holding services.

More testing = more positive test results.

Look at hospitalizations and deaths. Those are going down.

Amazing how difficult this is for some to grasp.

Spiking is not the correct word.  I have the Texas, California, and Illinois numbers in my spreadsheet.  I expect Illinois death averages to drop significantly this week.

Here are the 7 day rolling averages

California

_____Positive___Tested___%Positive___Deaths

5/1   - 1598____22973_____6.96%_____73

5/18 - 1784____42967_____4.15%_____76

Texas

_____Positive___Tested___%Positive___Deaths

5/1   - 918____15604_____5.88%_____35

5/18 - 1261___28188_____4.47%_____32

Illinois

_____Positive___Tested___%Positive___Deaths

5/1   - 2342____13579_____17.25%_____95

5/18 - 2497____22974_____10.87%_____111

OP, why do you hate America so much you want more people to die to make Trump look bad?

It’s not really his fault, because the media keeps reporting “spikes of new cases” but they almost always bury or refuse to acknowledge that testing is now rapid and widespread, meaning more people will find out their status, thus increasing the positive cases.

The left is particularly prone to this deception because they are sheeple leemings, who only read the CNN headline and do little to no independent research. Whatever Don Lemon says is law and anyone who says otherwise is a “conspiracy theorist” or a “Truptard”

So the way this virus has been reported by the mainstream creates a perferct storm to people like OP who can’t look a centimetre deeper.

Good, heard immunity is kicking in

Positive tests are irrelevant. All that matters is hospitalizations and deaths.

Lol at your desperate attempt to blame POC. Interestingly, the church in Chicago making headlines for the mayor going after them for holding services is not only not in a "minority area, it's is a Romanian church.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Deaths haven’t gone down as much as hoped. NY used to be like 40% of daily deaths, now it’s closer to 15%. The rest of the country has picked up our slack a bit.

It is positive to see us only having around 1000 per day. Thise days at 2500ish were alarming.

For Texas they are focusing on hopsitaliztion rates.

Hospitalizations and deaths are the only thing worth looking at. Only a simpleton is worried about infection rates.

Nate Silver loses his shit on Twitter on a weekly basis over this.

Calls out the media for not emphasizing this when reporting increased infection rates.

Let's be honest--- the notion of catching the China Virus at this point is not nearly as nefarious as it was 3 months ago. There is a decent chance most of us will catch it.

In NYC, preliminary testing has shown upwards of 1/5 of people have antibodies and those are people who were going out to buy groceries and not feeling sick at all.

There should be much more focus on hospitalizations and demographics. How many new ICU beds admittances are there? What are the age of patients? How many are FAT FUCKS?

Agreed, but I really thought NY would be under 100/day by now and nationwide we’d be well under 1000/day. That hasn’t been the case. I’m worried we’re gonna hover around this 1000-1500/day range for months to come instead of dropping to near 0.
