Chael Sonnen appeared this week on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and spoke at length about the middleweight title picture, a division he spent his UFC career in.

Sonnen talked to Helwani about Weidman's withdrawal from UFC 199, the search for his replacement, and why he believes Jacare Souza should be removed from the rankings for turning down the fight:
"I don't like it," Sonnen said Monday on The MMA Hour. "Man, I don't like it. Everybody says they want these opportunities.
"[Souza] is great. I would never make believe that he's not. But the bottom line is, the word is ‘yes.' If you want an opportunity in America, when one comes, you need to know one word and that is ‘yes.' The difference between Michael Bisping and everybody else is one word: ‘yes.' When the opportunity came, that's what he said. ‘Jacare' is hurt? Look, fine, I'm sure he is hurt after that long, drawn-out war he just had with Vitor. You think Michael Bisping isn't hurt? Of course he's hurt. Whether he advertising it or not, he goes in and fights men everyday. There's no way to not be hurt. Who gives a damn if you're hurt, man? You're either a tough guy or you aren't."
Bisping was never getting a shot unless he took this one on short notice, Jacare is next in line. Soo arguably the shot would have came to him eventually.

NicolasRGC - There's a difference between being hurt and coming out of knee surgery the day before.
This. Chael is a fool who will say anything to remain relevant and Jacare doesn't need to run from anything other than handicapping himself intentionally.
While I miss the old Pride days where people fought often....all of this coming from Chael is comical, he could take these risks and lose and the UFC would just reward him with another shot in short order, instead of getting cut, or getting shuffled very far away from a shot, due to being part of the UFC's "in" group. Not every fighter has that luxury. Plenty have taken short notice fights, or fought when injured and it had not help them later, of course they dont like guys turning down fights either, so it's a double edged sword for some guys.
Jacare wouldnt get cut with a loss, but he would have a very tough time getting another shot since the UFC could just say "well you already lost to him twice, nobody wants to see a third fight" because lets be real, a non English speaking brazillian is not exactly what they want in a title holder anyway. Not to mention Jacare is gonna need to be as close to 100% as possible for the tall task at hand as it is.
With that said, this sucks, I really would rather see Weidman, Jacare, Romero, Mousasi, Silva, Hall long before the Bisping rematch at this point.
Chael was also on steroids, and he also got his ass handed to him, let's not forget that tool shed was just as bad when it comes to a lot of the things he bash other fighters over.
