frontrowbrian -  It's bullshit. A cracked rib doesn't take 7 months to heal.

You'd have to be a fuckin idiot to believe that story

A broken rib heals completely in 6-8 weeks and Anderson's isn't even broken, it's cracked. Huge difference. Cracked rib is much less serious

have you ever had a rib injury...they take forever to heal. I messed up my serratus muscle and it took 4 months to heal. Brutally painful.

Generally speaking, a cracked single rib doesn't take anywhere near 7 months to heal. Anderson's camp should just admit he wants to take a long vacation because Chael beat the shit out of him. I couldn't blame him. He's 35 years old, declining skills, got punched in the face 350 times... he does deserve a break.

But to say a cracked rib, not broken, needs 7 months? Please

You make it sound as if Silva lies and gets a fake note from his Doc, so he can play hookie with his friends and skip a math test.

This is a multi-million dollar company;  Dana White doesn't just say "oh you can't fight for 7 months?  Cool, just give me a holler when you're feeling a little better."

I'm sure they look into these things.

Some people here have obviously never had a series rib injury. Ive fractured mine 3 times lol. First time healed in about 2 months. Second time about 4. As for the third time, I broke it two months ago, and while its no longer difficult to breath, it still hurts like a bitch.

4 or 5 months seems a reasonable time to make sure it has healed properly.

frontrow, just stop, you are wrong and are an idiot. Get over it you girl, sonnen got beat.

frontrowbrian -  Anderson would never milk an injury so he can take a vacation.

He took off 8 months last year and held the division up with an alleged elbow surgery he nor Ed have ever went into detail about.

He also went on stike essentially after UFC 90 when his PPV check came back low because he has no fans. They had to put Chuck on the undercard to boost the PPV buys to get him to fight Leites in Montreal who didn't deserve the fight. That part is on Joe Silva.

Silva has a history of disappearing. This vacation will be no different but when he decides to come back, there's going to be an All American from Portland, Oregon waiting to swing a hammer at him.

You wannabe CRE characters crack me up.

Is trolling really that fun for you? What do you get out of it? Is someone paying you to do this shit?

According to Soares, HE WENT TO THE FUCKING ER WITH BRUSED RIBS DIAGNOSIS BY 3 DR.S  LAYED IN BED FOR 5 DAYS 'RESTING" AND THEN TRAINED BEFORE THE FIGHT.

BULLSHIT!

I do not care that Anderson supposedly has a busted rib. He won the fight. Healthy or not, Chael is still a tough match-up for him.

 Ed Soares:

It was really close because the doctors didn’t want him to fight. He hurt his rib last Friday in sparring. He hurt it, but he didn’t think it was hurt that bad and then Sunday morning, I had about 13 missed calls in a matter of 25 minutes. They were all from Anderson and he was calling me to tell me he was in pain. He couldn’t breathe. I took him to the hospital and they X-Rayed each rib and they noticed that it was a bit swollen, but there was no fracture. They said it was bruised ribs, but the way he reacted when they touched it and how tender they were, they said it was in the muscle as well as the bruise. I’m not a doctor, but this is just what they told us. They prescribed some Ibuprofen 800 for him because it was so close to the fight, they couldn’t do any Vicodin. The doctors said, “I really don’t recommend that he fights,” but Anderson said, “No man, the show must go on. I’m going to fight." I put it this way, he was supposed to corner Mark Munoz on Sunday for his fight against Okami, but I made him stay at home in bed. He was just lying around and letting his ribs heal up on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because we traveled. He didn’t train again until we got to Oakland. He gave his ribs about a 5-day rest.

Ryan MacLeod -  I cracked several ribs before.  It was pretty painful for a few weeks but within two months it only hurts when applying direct pressure to the area.  Basically I just couldn't sleep on that side for about half a year.

I don't see it as something that would keep an "elite" athlete out of competition for nearly a year.

Oh wow. So you couldn't apply pressure on that side for half a year? Maybe Anderson can tell all his training partners not to hit him on that side. Then he can play half guard on the other side. Then if they would only take him down on the good side, then he can be at 100% in only six months. That's if he never takes time off.

But wait, if he tells his opponents not to attack him on that side, he can fight even before the 6 months.

It's not like he would have to wait 6 months to train normally, then build up to a regular training camp. Good thing they're only scrubs in the UFC, so he won't be fighting other elite athletes.

Darup - so basically this confirms Soares made up the hurt ribs story to cover the fact that Chael actually broke Anderson's ribs in the fight. He wouldn't have been allowed to fight if they were broke before the fight.

this. Chael cracked his ribs during the fight.

Card -  Vitor vs.... who now?

Vitor vs Chael please......Vitor doesn't even have a win in the UFC at 185 yet and at least needs to beat one top 5 guy there to get his title shot.  Do a catchweight win over Rich and  MW wins over Lindland and Terry Martin over a year ago really merit a title shot?

If not Chael, would like to see Vitor vs Okami or vs winner of Nate and Paul Harris.

How is 8/10 - 2/11 considered a year? Let's do the math here: August, September, October, November, December, January. Starting February he will be able to fight according to the original post. When did 6 months turn into a year?

HammerHands - He doesnt need an Excuse... HE WON THE FUCKING FIGHT!
He received a one sided beatdown on the ground for 4 & 1/2 rounds and almost got KTFO on the feet.

Not everyone's simple enough to remember a fight as a win/loss - most will remember exactly what happened for 4+ rds which was, Anderson put on his back "more than a pornstar with a mortgage" and getting the shit beat out of him.

I imagine his ego's nearly as battered and bruised as his body.

^ i would imagine Sonnen's ego must be in bad shape too, because even after dominating the first for 4 and a half rounds, he still couldnt seal the deal

and then instead of taking the loss like a man, he still had the nerve to pretend he didn't tap

set up Belfort/Leben as an appetizer, Sonnen faces Palhares if he wins or Bisping/Akiyama winner

that will give Silva plenty of time to recover, and let the division sort its self out

lets be honest, Vitor needs a legit win at MW anyway before a title shot

It wasnt just his elbow, didn't Vitor have a couple injuries leading up to the fight so they had to keep pushing it back?

frontrowbrian - A broken rib heals completely in 6-8 weeks

LOL.

 He's ducking Vitor.

Belfort vs Bisping. Winner gets the shot.

I expect the card before the superbowl is Shogun vs Snuggie Shad and Vitor vs Silva. That would be awesome.

350 times and how many actually did any damage? It looked like Sonnen was spackling not fighting. Strikes on the feet were great... everything else was shit.

Surprised anyone would call bullshit on this...

Looked to me like he hurt his rib long before Joe or anyone else said anything about it. It was even more obvious whey he never got his guard high.
