Southern Rock fans?

I've been a big fan of Southern Rock for a long time and all of this recent flap about the Confederate flag has got me listening to a lot of Southern Rock music lately (I've got Molly Hatchet on right now).

Lynyrd Skynyrd

The Allman Brothers Band

Molly Hatchet

The Outlaws

Blackfoot

Etc...

Good stuff.

I just discovered some band on YouTube that I'd never heard of before called Mocassin Creek that does an amalgamation of rock, country, and rap. Here is a video where they talk about the Confederate flag and point out that it is not necessarily a racist sysmbol (they've actually got a black guy rapping in the song).

Here are The Outlaws in 2007 performing their class, Green Grass And High Tides Forever. Great f'ing song.

Unfortunately guitarist/vocalist Hughie Thomasson passed away not too long after this was performance was recorded.

Don't forget The Marshall Tucker Band!

A good song from the post plane crash reformed Lynyrd Skynrd.

I hope they keep waving the Confederate flag and don't give in to this "politically correct" bullshit.

Oh yeah, I Skynyrd even mentioned them in this song:

IN for new-to-me old bands. Or GOOD new bands.

There was always southern rock on in the background of my childhood, but until recently, I havnt really appreciated it.
Skynyrd & CCR (if you count them) have been a mainstay in my rotation since I got back on this kick.

Credence Clearwater Revival is actually from California, which is not considered to be part of "The South," but their music could certainly be considered to be southern rock.

Check out "Hurry Sundown" by the Outlaws. Another good tune.

Actually saw him and the DBT's a few weeks apart. They lost their soul when he left. Patterson is amazing song writer but seems like an angry douche Phone Post 3.0
