After the latest official rankings, Jacare Souza is ranked second only to Anderson Silva, but it is Vitor Belfort who will next fight champion Chris Weidman. However, Souza knows that injuries happen, and is in fight preparation if for any reason Belfort is unable to compete at UFC 181:

According to Jacare's manager Gilberto Faria when speaking to UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian is going to sit and wait for now just to see if his services may be needed to replace one of the main event fighters should either one get injured between now and December.

"Our plan A is to be the UFC's plan B," Faria noted.

Faria stated that Jacare will get back into training as if he's going to fight on December 6 and whether he's needed on two week's notice or two day's notice, he'll be ready.

I think the odds are better that Vitor will pull out of the fight than he will win. Smart move by Jacare. I say at least sign him to fight some scrub on the same card so he can get paid for his efforts.

Doem - Jacare will get back to cycling as if he is going to fight on december 6th?

Some Tonya Harding shit gonna happen to Belfort in camp. Phone Post 3.0

To be fair then maybe the UFC should also random test Jacare leading up to the fight, same way they are doing to Belfort. Then the UFC would need to go to a third option.

First off I don't know how to post pics.

I'm curious if anyone else has notices how much Jacare has changed. He is completely shredded now. He was always muscular, but his definition has really changed. Similar to Vitors. Look at Vitor when he fought Terry Martin or Hendo, and compare his build to his physic now. Look at Jacare when he fought Mousassi and then him at yesterday's weigh ins. Phone Post 3.0

I could be wrong here but I have been in and out of so many gyms, bodybuilders, martial artists, powerlifters etc since the early 90's and affter seeing all if seen you can start to tell the juicing physiques with the good results from hard work and good genitics physiques. For instance the level of muscle density, the separation the extreme vascularity and paper thin skin granite harness of vitors physique is different than jacare's physique. Which looks like someone who lifts hard, works out hard and sleeps and trains correctly. He just looks like a dude in great shape who basically walks around at what he fights. Unlike vitor getting well over 200 lbs than coming in looking granite tight rather than jacares bit smother wetter muscle look.

Maybe back in the day Jacare didnt train in S&C and only trained in the martial arts. But realized after there was a gap in his performance to his true potential and started lifting. And that's why he's changed, cuz we never saw the Jacare that trains that aspect.

Just an idea Phone Post 3.0

Why was my post deleted. It's not like the ug wasn't right about Belfort, reem, Paul Harris, Lombard. People have speculated on jacare a long time and with fighters saying that at least half of the UFC is on PEDs he is as good of a candidate as anybody else.

Looks like we might need him to replace Diaz. Phone Post 3.0

ugh. I would hate that fight for Silva coming off his layoff/injury.

I'd love it. A finish over Jacare holds more weight right now than a finish over Nick Diaz. Phone Post 3.0

If they do this fight it wouldn't be fair any other way, he would need to be randomly tested too. They need to cover all angles with this one. Phone Post 3.0

Good plan. He might be needed for Vitor or Diaz. Phone Post 3.0

I hope Vitor pulls out, his body is a mess and Weidman will steam roll him.

Only a matter of time:)

Vitor is gonna fight, he can fight him when he's done.
