That sucks. I was hoping that the betting sites would believe that Hughes was the favorite, and put out some good odds for Almeida.
It looks like I'm going to have to take up some of the Forum members who were talking about betting. Hello?
Yep, surprising odds TBH. Hughes has always done well with one dimensional grapplers. I'm very interested in this fight.
not suprising...67 year old renzo was picking matt apart until he his hip blew out and he could no longer continue to fight
Hughes looked absolutely terrible and 100% done against a real opponent when he was in the ring with Renzo. I don't mean that to sound disrespectful (although god knows Hughes deserves some negativity and anyone who says otherwise is lying or unaware), but I GENUINELY don't see how anyone could have seen Hughes vs. Renzo and not thought otherwise.
I'm surprised Almeida isn't a bigger favorite based on that. bet props

He looked bad, but Almeida is taylor made for Hughes to be competitive. He's not going to box Hughes up, and he's not going to outwrestle him in all likelihood. Hughes could wrestle his way to a W like he got vs Serra.
Almedia started on dog odds and has dropped to where he is now.
Not a fight I want to bet on. I think Almeida will do it, but Hughes is still no joke. Great matchup.

Well, I think he looked worse than just 'bad', hence my choice of the words 'absolutely terrible' and '100% done' ;)
Almeida has used his wrestling more effectively against better fighters recently at a higher weight class. I know that Hughes obviously has a better wrestling pedigree, but he's about 80 in ring years by this point, has significantly less wrestling skill than many newer UFC signings. Don't let the fact that Hughes was once the better wrestler make you take for granted that he always will be, I guess that's what I'm saying.
BTW, I think Hughes has only ever hurt seriously injured opponents on the feet with his 'striking,' but I could be forgetting someone.
IrishRottie - well ricardo is a poor mans serra imo
Think Serra would beat Kendall, Misaki or Marquardt? I can't see it.

I don't think your stance is unfair at all. This isn't a good fight to bet on IMO unless the odds get lopsided, either fighter winning wouldn't shock me.
Yeah, the line isn't that great for betting right now. Hopefully they have some good Almeida by submission and Almeida 1st round props.
Hughes better not look good and embarras me! I may edit my posts on this thread later. ;)
IrishRottie - ricardo is a poor mans serra imoI do not think Serra would agree with this statement.

kendall yes and nate back then yes, i think at 170 they are very comparable.
LOL, I'd love to see Kendall vs. Serra in that case. How do you see Serra beating someone with Kendall's size and grappling ability? I don't think Matt's punches would even reach Kendall's suspect chin. :(
Matt's best chance may be to try and land a haymaker to Kendall's weird pointy sternum

1 dimensional grapplers? LOL. Almeida will dominate a stand up fight versus Hughes.
Almeida hasn't lost in almost 8 years...the cote fight was a draw.
Would love to see Hughes pull out the victory in this one.
Show everyone that he's not wash up and he's not done yet.

Almeida lost the Cote fight, it wasn't a draw. And an 8 year unbeaten streak (which Almeida doesn't have) isn't as impressive when you take 5 of those years off. I don't think he dominates Hughes standing.

Nah...I'd never want to see one of Renzo's guys lose. And fwiw, I think Serra waited to long to make his move on Hughes and the clock ran out just as he was getting Hughes in trouble.

Agreed. If Serra had established top position with a couple minutes left, I think he would've finished Hughes.
